No he is only 38yr old and healthy other wise. He only found out

about the atrial fib 2 years ago. He is on coumadin and pacerone.

His pulse is constantly irregular but he dose not experience the

heart pounding like most others. Leah

Pacerone is another name for amiodarone, which can have very bad side

effects compared to other possible meds - eyesight damage, lung

damage, etc. There are other meds that could be tried - flecainide,

dofetilide, etc.

Also, depending on how good the doc is who did the ablations, I

myself would consider going to a top doc for at least a consultation,

such as Dr. Natale at the leveland Clinic.

That was a typo, I mean to say Cleveland Clinic.

I am shocked that such a young person as your husband was put on

amiodarone. My cardiologist said only for people over 65 (I guess

they figure the chances are that the older people will die from

something else before the amiodarone side effects get them, a theory

I disagree with, since we have seen people have bad effects quite

quickly in some cases.)

  • 1 month later...

I went in to the emergency room a year ago September with an AFib

that I wouldn't bring down. I was given Cartizem for treatment and

in 4 hours it returned to resting. This summer, I would wake up in

the night with a rapid heartrate, but did not feel like the afib and

went away in 5 to 10 minutes. I am wearing a event monitor now for

a month. Several medications have been tried prior to this

monitor. Dejoxin, double dose of Cartizem. Now on a dose and half,

two times a day. The doctor thinks I may be trying to afib again,

and need a blood thinner. Have been on aspirin theraph for years.

Does anyone work out? Do aerobic exercises or lift weights? How

much do you do. Have you had rapid, but apparently regular h.rates

in the night? bettyjean342000
