Guest guest
Are you on any treatment?? If not you need it bigtime! Do you know what your Free T3 and Free T4 are??..............why are you hypo, do you have hashi's?? Ideally your TSH should be as close to ZERO as possible, hang in there, there is heaps of help available here..and no you do not have Alzheimer's, you just need better medical care and a doctor who knows what he's doing. ............Meleese in Oz xxx ----- Original Message ----- From: tiredornurse Just found this site. Seem to have about all the symptoms you are all talking about. Worst one is brain fog. Big time!!!! And I am a nurse and should be on the ball. I was scared I had Alzheimers. My doctor is very nonchalant about my thyroid. My original number when first diagnosed was TSH 10. I need to have some answers. I need to feel better. Help please. Guest guest
Just wanted to welcome you and let you know that you've found the best group out there for supportive people who understand what you're going through. (and I have tried a number of groups - so that is no light praise) Unless they're using a scale that is way different than most others - a TSH of 10 is just plain high. Have you read Topper's (the lady who runs this group) site? http://www.thyrophoenix.com/ There is a lot of info to get you started. What others here have taught me is that the symptoms are even more important than your test numbers. So - other than foggy thinking - what do you experience? Lastly (for now) I have been raving about a book that I think makes this all make so much sense. It's by Dr. Ken Blanchard an Endo from Boston. It's called What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Hypothyroidism - A Simple Plan For Extraordinary Results. It filled in a lot of gaps for me. Try your local library. Also - Shomon - a paient advocate who is extremely up on thyroid and autoimmune diseases has some great web sites for info - and also has books (haven't read her book yet though) Shomon's sites: http://www.thyroid-info.com/ http://thyroid.about.com/ That's probably more than you wanted right now. Oh - almost forgot - most of us have had terrible experience with not being taken seriously by the medical community. Most of us work very hard to find doctors who will listen and treat us properly. Not all of us have succeeded in that quest. But don't feel alone if your doc is being non-chalant - mostly, I think they simply do not know enough about this disease. Or, worse still, they think they know - when really, they're not informed. There are good docs out there though. (I have faith I'll find one myself!) I hope you stick around and learn with us Best, -Lynn PS: All - I am two days behind on posts - I'll catch up eventually (I think!) tiredornurse wrote: > Just found this site. Guest guest
If you have a TSH of 10 and the doc isn't jumping like he's standing on a bed of coals you need to find another doc. The current range for TSH is .3 to 3.0 with anything over 2.0 being cause for concern to find out what is wrong... Time to get a doc that doesn't have his head up his butt and gets things started.... IMHO of course. Topper () www.thyrophoenix.com/thyroid_101.htm On Thu, 20 Apr 2006 04:16:12 -0000 "tiredornurse" writes: Just found this site. They actually removed my thyroid and thought it was no big deal. I still am told ALL the time that I should shut the hell up and go to a shrink. Nice huh? You are gonna have to fight to get well...so its time for you to perservere. A TSH of 10 is through the roof and can't feel good. I think you might want to start by posting your labs, and your dosage of whatever replacement you are on. Also, if you have any other info about he basis for diagnosis...like Hashie's that would be helpful. High antibodies can skew your results. Also..if you are taking the med prior to blood draw that will also skew the results. ~E:) ~EG Connecticut Total-T 2 years ago / 60 mg Synthetic/135mg Armour Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Yep Lynn is right , we have all fought so hard so far to get to the point we are at so prepare your self this may not be easy. Alot of the medical community doesn't know alot about this disease and alot choose to just think it is in our heads. But trust me hon your not insane or whacky if you feel the symptoms then they are real Don't give up if you get down please come here and vent we have all done that at one time or another. I worked from Oct to March to finally get a refferal to even see an endo and finally getting to go in May on the 4th and I can't wait to see what they have to say my TPO ( antibodies) is 951 and the range is only < 35 and well it is a bit high so I was told I have Hashimoto throditis disease and that I had to wait till my TSH gets worse or my thyroid dies to get any kind of treatment that could be days or months or years or decades till it happens and I refuse to live this way the rest of my life so you are going to have to fight for your right to good care. Hope you enjoy you time with this group they are very knowledgeable ladies and very very caring. Trust me you won't find anymore caring people on the web this is a fantastic group. hang in there as we all do we help keep each other up and strong So read alot and take it all in it is some great info. and WELCOME Hugzzzz TinaLynn wrote: Just wanted to welcome you and let you know that you've found the best group out there for supportive people who understand what you're going through. Guest guest
Talk about brain fog. I posted onto this site and then couldnt remember how to get back into it. So it has now been a week since I visited the site. I have been on Synthroid for almost a year. The Dr. started me on 50 mcg and wouldnt change it, even though I told him I was starting to feel bad again. I seem ok for about 4 months and then slide again. Well finally he put me on 75 mcg in January and I did feel better for a while. Some days are better than others. I do relate to what others in the group are saying. I feel so much better now I know I am not alone. By the way my name is Ruth. I really need this support. > > Are you on any treatment?? If not you need it bigtime!
