I apologize in advance for the length of this message, but really

need some opionions. Have no thyroid due to thyca in 2002, had

thyroidectomy, RAI and was put on Synthroid. Felt increasing bad

each year I was on Synthroid and am sure I was hypo most of the time

as my endo only tested TSH, never (or very seldom) the free T3 or

T4. I have been tired, worsening PMS symptoms, lots of anxiety,

lack of " well-being. " Just recently got a new dr who put me on

Armour, am at 2 grains (not up to my optimal dose yet) and have my

saliva testing done (will post below) but found I have high

cortisol, low estrogen, low ferritin, but in the past month and a

half have had EXTREME anxiety to the point of taking Xanax, days of

sleeping ALL day and all night and still feeling tired the next,

very weepy, emotional, loss of appetite, nausea, have lost about 20

lbs, feelings of not being able to function (and barely being able

to). My regular dr is running more tests on me and does not believe

in the saliva testing and thinks that is all " hooey. " I am taking

180 mg elemental iron for the ferritin, PS for the high cortisol and

Dr. 's supplments for adrenal support. Could this all be due

to me still being hypo (or am I hypo), low ferritin, high

cortisol???? Or do I need to look for other health issues? Below

are my labs:

Estradiol 0.7 (1.3-3.3 (premenopausal-luteal)

DHEAS 12.8 (2-23)

Cortisol Morning 16.8 (3.7-9.5)

Cortisol Noon 11.9 (1.2-3.0)

Cortisol Evening 3.9 (0.6-1.9)

Cortisol Night 2.5 (0.4-1.0)

Ferritin 7 (10-232)

TSH 0.51 (.4-4.5)

Free T-4 0.6 (0.8-1.8)

Free T3 242 (230-420)

RT3 13 (11-32)

Thanks for any help/advice! I am desperate!

I have seen people have those same symptos with Ferritin as low as

yours. I would hold off any more thyroid increases until you get the

Ferritin at leats to 35. You r body cannot utilize it! The high cortiosl

is blocking conversion of T4 to T3 and then youi get toxicty form the T4

that can;t convert. You should also ask to have reverse T3 tested. If it

is high form the high cortiosl, it will block the thyroid receptors an

the T3 cannot enter the cells to work right then either.

Sure looks like you're still hypo. That could account for a lot of your

symptoms; anxiety, sleeping all the time, etc. Val will be along with lots

better advice, but also you need to get that ferritin up to at least 80 which

should help you utilize the thyroid better. Your ferritin is way too low. Low

estrogen can make people feel pretty bad as well. I'm curious what Val will

have to say.
