Guest guest
Here are the questions I would ask ... you probably have already thought of them all: 1. Am I better off waiting for a while until ablation procedures get even better? 2. Why do you use one ablation procedure over another? 3. What do you think of the electolyte theories, like supplementing with magnesium? If you think they are worth it (recognizing everyone's body is different), what kind of magnesium should be used? How much? Any interactions with other drugs or supplements? 4. How do you differentiate your style of ablation from that of Dr Jackman? (Dr. Jackman is another leading ablation Dr, I think in Kansas) 5. If I can find a highly competent EP to do my ablation locally or nearby, wouldn't that be better than traveling a long way to Cleveland? 6. How can I differentiate among PVCs, PACs, other intermittent pulses, true AFib? Does it really matter? Are they all symptoms of AFib? 7. Is there any value in having my own monitor of some sort to record AFib episodes or PVCs/PACs? Would that help me to treat myself differently depending on what kind of cardiac irregularity is going on? Would this help my EP diagnose or treat me more effectively? If so, what kind of monitor can I get? Good luck Kat! Make sure you talk his ear off and find out everything you can. Take a note pad and take notes ... or even take a voice recorder. You will certainly forget some things. Steve Kathy Burkett <hppy1kat@y...> wrote: > > > Hi everyone! > > I am just dotting my i's and crossing my t's. (snip) Kat, If your conversation happens to veer in the direction of how long his waiting list is, I would love to know. You would think that he would get tired of answering the same or many of the same questions over and over, but I couldn't detect any boredom on his part. Let us know waht you find out. Guest guest
> , have you made up your mind about where and with what Doc will > do your PVI? > P <MI> ********** , I have made up my mind and guess who? Dr. Natale. I would be confident in having the procedure done by any of the three doctors I met--Dr.Marchlinski at Penn, Dr. Caulkins at s Hopkins, Dr. Natale--I liked all of them, but I chose Dr. Natale mostly because he has done the most. Over 1000. They are all world-class EPs, all of them have been pioneers in these afib ablation procedures, in the research and the application. Dr. Marchlinski and Dr. Natale do virtually the same French procedure, Dr. Calkins does the Pappone/Italian procedure. But for my own situation, I think that Dr. Natale is the best choice for me. I have a date next Feb.15. Day after Valentine's day. The heart thing, you know. About eight months since I went for my consult with him in July. Hope I making the right decision. Only time will tell. Wish me luck.
