Guest guest
Dear a, It might be too early for some of the foods you're trying to eat. My dietitian told me to stay away from bread, pork, beef and rice (unless it was in soup) until I was 8 weeks post-op. Everything else was okay. Of course she wanted (wants) me to stay away from all refined white/brown sugar and watch my carbs/fat intake as well but the four no-NOS were listed as foods that were extremely hard to digest BEFORE 8 weeks, post-op. Just thought I'd pass this info along. Good luck to you and God bless you! Love, Trace in Va. Beach, VA Dr. Schechner, Norfolk and Va. Guest guest
4 weeks out, or close? Please get a scope. Don't take no for an answer. Easily fixed if tackled early. having hard time with purees I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but I don't have the time to search. I'm wondering if this is normal or something I need to call my MD about. I'm about 1/2 through my 3rd week post op and I'm having trouble with some foods. At first I thought I hadn't purred enough and then I noticed it happening with beef (everytime) sometimes with chicken, too. It's always with protein foods. It is REALLY uncomfortable when I swallow- not in my throat, but at my pouch. It almost feels as if the food is stuck. After a few minutes the 'pain' goes away, but I'm afraid to eat anything after that. What am I doing wrong? Is it just too early for some things? Guest guest
a - I never ate pureed meats. I ate mostly cottage cheese and refried beans. How do you do with non-meats? If OK, then I wouldn't worry about it, just take small bites, and eat slowly. See if it gets better. If it's still difficult with any food, you may need a scope to see what's going on. Guest guest
I couldn't do the pureed meats either. Pureed anything is gross. lol. When I was on the soft stage though, I chopped chicken or tuna really fine and added some mayo and made a sort of chicken or tuna salad out of it. It was really good. It had the mushy consistency that we need, but wasn't runny. Yuck!! Just the though is messing me up. lol. ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comT http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! Guest guest
Hummus may be high in fat, but I think it's the " good " fat, isn't it? Either way, it's delicious! ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comT http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! Guest guest
Hang in there, Sherry - you can do it! do you like cottage cheese? I ate a lot of that when I was on pureed foods. Just chew it well, and it becomes pureed. I also ate refried beans with melted cheese on top. Just remember it will all be worth it in the long run.
