I've had similar problems, but I never considered the possibility

that it was related to mito. I had nine kidney infections in just

over a year, and spent 80% of that time on antibiotics (usually

Cipro).

After a lot of frustration, I was seen by a urologist and an

infectious disease specialist. I had several rather invasive tests,

CT scans and extensive immunological function bloodwork. Finally,

the infections cleared up, but I live in fear that the cycle could

start again. This was not the only time this sort of thing has

happened to me.

I was told by my neuro doc that if you are having bladder issues that

you don't empty completely, you could have a life time of infections.

Do you have that problem? I do and couldn't go the the urologist the

neuro wanted me to because of insurance issues, and the one I saw was

useless because he knew nothing about neuromuscular diseases at all.

Sometimes I can empty completely and sometimes I can't, I assume due to

energy issues. This "doc" I saw had me go to the bathroom 3 times in 5

minutes and then cathed me. He got out a couple of tablespoons and

said, "see you are emptying, good buy".

I hope you can get your situation straightened out.

, I have recurring UTI's also. Macrobid used to work for me but

now when I get one, I have to get a stronger antibiotic before I get

rid of the infection completely. Mine are getting more freguent as

time goes on. I have wondered also if this was a symptom of the mito

or if it was just me. I had had them off and on since I was 22 years

old but I have had more frequent ones in the last 3 years.

Dear , just a quick note. I used to work in urology at one point and one

thing that the docs emphasized, but I know many docs

don't follow, is that everyone should always have another routine culture and

urinalysis done about 2 weeks after finishing the

antibiotics for a UTI, to make sure it hasn't returned. Hope you get the

Hi,

Right now it doesn't always feel that my bladder is emptying. From the

sound of people's replies, I don't think I want to do the specialist/tests

thing, all to be told essentially nothing.

I'm trying to drink a lot of water. I tried cranberry juice, which is

always suggested to ward off infections, but that seemed to make my bladder

feel worse. Only with mito - up is down, black is white : )

I take cranberry capsules every day to protect my kidneys as they are mito

affected. I don't have the problem with infections, but hope to ward off

such miserable things.

I have found that cranberry caps work much better than antibiotics for UTIs. Take at least 4 a day and it really clears things up fast!

hi, had 2 uti last two months-dr pur me on cipro-24 later no more pain-now he is sending me to a urilogost because having problems with loose stools 6 times a
