Pete: As I remember, you are on flecainide? If so, you may want to

ask your doctor if you can take a bolus (extra) dose when in afib, in

an attempt to self convert. My doctor allows it (as long as I keep

him advised). But check with your doctor for exact amounts and timing.

I'm on Lopressor and coumidan He did have me take an extra dose

of Lopressor to keep my rate low.

As I said I'm armed with all kinds of new info from the group so I

have alot of questions for him.

Thanks Pete

Pete,

Good for you! Now you know you can ride it out. I have had the experience

you describe countless times in my 20+ years of afib, complete with the

sleepless night and going to work anyway. It's not fun, but we survive. I've

never

been to the emergency room yet for afib and sometimes wonder if the fact that

I always convert to sinus on my own has anything to do with all that

" practice " my heart has had in converting without cardioversion or chemical

intervention. Maybe " practice makes perfect " with afib as in music.

= Thanks . The reason I went to the ER three times is I didn't

know any better. Its only after finding this site that I had the

information I needed to take on this stinking thing !

I now know I can do it and hopefully I will get options from the

doctors .
