Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, I do not know if this info. maybe helpful--a friend of mine a few yrs. ago was on chemotherapy treatment for cancer. Her lips were sore and itchy. The dr. suggested using Labello Plus premium lip treatment only, for it contains no vaseline, and did not further aggravaite her condition. Just a thought.... & mrmurfee. vaseline:rash Hi Jeanne,I would think twice about putting any oil at all on your lips to ease thechapping, as I would anywhere else on my body with or without a SPF, justbecause oil would intensify the sun rays and might actually cause you majorburning instead. One thing I did find with vaseline - maybe for the same reason - is that itnever sank in properly. Since it is a translucent jelly maybe it also causedany sun rays to intensify. Perhaps this could be your problem - check itout with your doctor before you do anything 'rash' (ouch!).Best regards>>> >> >> >Oh you know, I have been having a rash around my mouth now for a few> >months and it doesn't want to go away. Guest guest
Hello everyone! I've been out of town on work and my-oh-my it has been very busy around here!! Speaking of rashes around your mouth, I don't have a rash, just in the corners of my mouth it's red and sometimes crusty, it looks like I have cool aid in the corners of my mouth .....this is strange, because I've never had anything like this before. The only thing i'm using on my lips is chapstik and I have for years. My H-Pylori test came back negative, so I wonder what's causing my stomach to bother me. I'm on the Zantac, so you think it wouldn't be hurting. Have a great day! Ann -- " Good friends are like stars, you don't always see them, but you know they are always there " Ann anney@... Guest guest
Jeanne, Why are your lips so chapped? Mine only get chapped in the winter. Is your skin unusually dry? Maybe this is a symptom of a thyroid problem which can be the source of the hives. Have you checked this?? in Pa. > >Reply-To: urticaria >To: urticaria >Subject: vaseline:rash >Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 20:56:23 -0800 > > >Oh you know, I have been having a rash around my mouth now for a few >months and it doesn't want to go away. Guest guest
Hello: I get a rash around my mouth every time I come off of methylprednisolone. I went to the doc and it was diagnosed as perioral dermatitis, similar to roseacea(sp?), but around the mouth and nose rather than on the cheeks. You can get a topical medicine (called Neorx or something like that--in the states) to put on it from your doc if what you have is perioral dermatitis. Apparently it's also exacerbated by my using Eucerin cream (a very thick cream) as a moisturizer. I imagine that vaseline might have a similar effect. I have stopped using the Eucerin cream and use Neutrogena moisturizer now, which is much lighter. On a related note, it seems like I also break out in acne every time I come off of steroids. It's like all the acne I would have had while I was on steroids waits until I come off of it and then I get them all at once! Not a pretty sight! > > Oh you know, I have been having a rash around my mouth now for a few > months and it doesn't want to go away. It may be the vaseline. Guest guest
Jeanne My thyroid was checked too and it all looked fine until they checked for antibodies. Guest guest
Jeanne: They also checked my thyroid and the numbers were fine (T3, T4 and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) BUT one of my MD's went a little further and checked my thyroid antibodies. I got the results yesterday and they are SKY HIGH. Seems my body is seeing my thyroid as a foreign body and producing these antibodies to try to destroy it. I'm sure that is what is causing me to hive also. Now, to try and figure out how to turn these antibodies off. (They started me on synthroid yesterday). Find out if they have checked your thyroid antibodies. regards, Ramona > , > > Good question. Guest guest
, Good question. They checked my thyroid and all the numbers came out fine. I live very close to the beach and humidity is around 60% 70 degree weather. The only thing I can think is that all my skin is really dry and I may not be eating enough fat in my diet. I eat no added fat whatsoever, it makes my GERD worse. Perhaps I should add some almonds or avocado to my diet. Jeanne , CA
Guest guest
, Yes, antibodies, everything is normal. I mean normal is good, but URT is bad. So frustrating. I'm still cautiously optimistic that it was my tooth. But I have to tell you, I feel like such a pin-cushion after all the blood work is done and I tease the phlebotomist that she's really working for Dracula.
