>>And then my KIDS didn't like tomatoes--still don't. (Mom)

SACRILEGE. :D

I LOVE tomatoes. I'm talking, walk out to the garden, pick a warm tomato,

wash most of the dirt off by wiping it on your shorts and eat it on the spot,

LOVE.

You're gonna think I'm weird when I admit this but who cares, right...?

I worked for over a year (when I was dating Corb) to get him to like fresh

tomatoes. How crazy is that...?

Each and every time I made him a sandwich or a sub or a bowl of tossed salad,

I'd ask him if he wanted tomato on it (sandwich) or in his tossed salad.

He would try it, God bless his heart, to please me. I just couldn't see how

anyone couldn't like a fresh, GARDEN tomato.

Now, after 15 years of bliss, he LOVES tomatoes as much as I do. :)

I've continued my food projects with him. We're currently working on

avocados. He loves plain avocado but doesn't prefer my chunky guacamole

We're changing that. LOL

I loved your boys in the kitchen stories, M. And you're right, of course.

Gazpacho should only be served in Mexico, when it's 105 in the shade, with

fresh chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime and a pitcher of margaritas. Mm.

I LOVE avocado. Been on an avocado kick lately actually. Not guacamole

either, avocado - peeled, sliced and tossed in salad with some feta cheese

and red onions.

Ok. Beat me, flame me, force feed me milk, but I don't like tomatoes.

Never have. I like tomato SAUCE, but only if there aren't any tomato chunks

in it.

Tooooo funny!!

I just bought my first post-op avocado (not sure if I will get up the nerve to

eat it though). My husband doesn't like avocadoes, but loves quacomole (sp?).

I do the same things....trying to get Dave to eat things I like. Sometimes it

works sometimes it doesn't. It's been 10 years for us, but I still keep trying.

LOVE spaghetti sauce and lots of tomato things, but not the actual

tomatos! And I tend to break out if they touch my lips or skin!

There's a reason I got so fat. I hate ALL vegetables with the

exception of mushrooms, onions, peppers SOMETIME or corn on the cob

if it's slathered with butter, salt and pepper! Thank God for

multivitamins or I'd have rickets or scurvy or something truly nasty,

LOL.

I buy them whole, cut them in half, pull out the pit, and eat them. YUM! I

dice them and put them in salads, slice them & salt them and eat them as a

snack (or side dish), mash them up with other stuff to make a spread or a

dip ... any way at all, I LOVE avocados.

We differ there, I love vegetables. Always have actually, even pre-op. I

love them raw, cooked, or any way in between. :) Hate fruit though.

Pre-op, I'd eat raw veggies and salads covered in fattening dips and stuff.

I'd eat cooked vegetables with lots of butter, salt, and sometimes cheese.

No wonder I was so fat! lol. I still use a little dip, butter, salt,

cheese, etc., but not quite as much. :) I've learned that PLAIN veggies

I just had one last night....OMG so good. I just cut them in half, take the pit

out and scoop out the insides.

You know, the one I had last night was somewhat stringy...Now, it's been awhile

since i've had one, but...I don't remember them being stringy. Sure was good

though.

Also, in case it's not been said before, make sure you let it ripen to a soft

texture before eating it.

My kids (6, 4, and 2) absolutely LOVE tofu. Whenever we get Chinese food,

they want tofu & veggies. How weird is that?? Luckily, no one's told them

that the fried, sugary, gooey things are what they're " supposed " to like.

They're still relying on their taste buds to tell them what they like. :)

Here's my experience with this. Now that we're eating so much less, we're

actually tasting the flavor and experiencing the texture of the food a lot

more. I used to eat so fast that I had no idea what the texture was most

times, other than crunchy, mushy, etc. You're probably noticing that now,

that's what happened to me. I don't think avocados should be stringy or

" fibery " , but maybe you got a different variety than I buy. Sometimes

they're a little grainy if I eat them when they're not quite ripe though.

Hi, I'm new to this group, and I LOVE VEGGIES AND TOFU ALSO!

I'm Alice, still in the pre-op stages, and set for my first consult

with surgeon in February. Thanks to you all for sharing so much

info, it's really helpful and encouraging for me.

I'm guessing this string started with a question and/or recipe for

gazpacho. If a recipe, I'd love to have it. My mom makes a great

gazpacho, but she uses bread crumps to thicken it, so another version

would be great for me.

Hope to get to know you all better as time goes by.

Thanks!

for when buying an avacado? Are they eaten mostly cold or do you

cook with them too?

About the softness of a ripe peach. I don't cook with them, because they are
