a, this is a response I posted in the RT3 group. I contacted

another woman who has been to over 7 drs this year and she has seen

every big name in the LA area. Also, this topic has been discussed

before on this group or the natural hormone group-I can't remember.

Even though I list my Drs. on this list, I am not completely satisfied

because they are orientated towards the wilson's protocol which

requires TR T3. My dr is willing to switch me to plain T3..but not

for another 3 months-I ain't waiting that long.

Another thing I realized is when calling drs, one should find out if

they treat with both TR T3, Cytomel, maybe amour. And if they treat

with HC. Some do not want to give their patients HC. Better to find

out before you need it...and if you're taking T3 you better count on

needing it.

,

The guy I see cares more about symptoms than labs. Hands out HC

if you provide a good argument....I got him from the 's website.

Here is a list of the good and the bad drs of southern cali. Another

woman with thyroid/adrenal/sensitivities has spent the year going to

all these people (I am leaving out the details she mentioned--how the

dr mistreated her symptoms):

Dr. Katz -- the old guy in Beverly Hills, put her on a high dose of

synthroid

Holtorf Center-told them she had major sensitivities, they gave her a

b-12 shot, she ended up in the hospital. Sold a boat load of

supplements to her $$$$, she had another reaction to the supplements

and ended up in the ER. Mixed reviews for this group. Some people

swear by them and others have bad experiences.

Craig Jace. ND, north holywd. Prick, got mad when she told him she

went to another dr. for a 2nd opinion and he canceled her prescription

for HC and nature throid! This guy wasn't licensed to dispense

prescriptions and used another dr's name.

Dr. Friedman- Big shot Beverly Hills. Doesn't believe in testing for

RT3, and freaks if the TSH drops too low, synthroid-nazi. Says he's

" doing well on synthroid "

Dr. Yee in Orange County, 2 people like him. Gives HC and NT/Amour.

Asks you to share your lab tests before you go in so that he can order

additional tests before you see him.

Dr. Dreibelbis--doesn't treat adrenals, treats thyroid

Tenenbaum heard good things about him, no longer with the

Holtorf group, now in thousand oaks. This is who she is currently

seeing said he doesn't get offended when she brings her own research

in and encourages 2nd opinion.

Dr. sen, this is the dr. I see, he's in thousand oaks,

got his name from the wilson's website. I like him cuz he's willing to

listen. You have to be aware of adrenal issues..he didn't believe me

when I told him my reaction when he boosted the TR T3 to 60...spent

the next week self treating with isocort and making a list of symptoms

to convince him. The whole thing pissed me off b/c I told him I had

high cortisol and he understood that was the sign of beginning adrenal

fatigue yet he didn't suggest I test myself before starting T3

I also see another Dr. in Portland, OR, because she is cheaper and was

a bit more through with her info. She understood what adrenal stress

looks like on the temp graph and that people need to be on adrenal

support for a few months to balance out. Got her name from the

wilson's website too. Dr. . I wonder if you would have to

see her to be her patient. Or if you can fax/email your temp chart and

consult over the phone.

HI Tasia,

Very interesting reading your list of local doctors. I too live in the local

area, my wife sees Dr. Wightman at Hortoff. She likes him a lot, but it is

pretty insanely expensive. So we are looking for a doctor that can actually

give you the script prescription and we can get it filled elsewhere. She is

seeing him for symptoms of hypothyroid and perimenopause and is feeling much

better. I am seeing another doctor up in Monterey that I like for symptoms

of hypothyroidism, hypoadrenalism, and low male hormones. My situation is

more of a work in progress, it will take a long time to get me fixed up.

Your guy, Dr. son, how does he handle writing prescriptions since he

is just a naturepath?

If you have any other information on Dr. Tenenbaum in T. O. , it would be

appreciated.

Thanks,

Neil

Neil,

Last time I spoke to the other woman, she had gone for her 2nd

appointment with Tenenbaum and plans to return to him. I do not

remember if he continued her prescription of HC--but she would have

had a fit if he didn't so I can assume that he treats adrenals with HC.

My ND is licenced in OR too--they have more power in OR. I'm not sure

how the laws in CA limits ND's prescription license but he coordinates

with a compounding pharm in Portland and it will be delivered to you.

The thing about Dr. sen is that he likes to keep things simple

and is not big on testing. That is great for treating thyroid but

with adrenals and male/female hormones you're going to have to insist

on some kind of saliva testing and treat accordingly. I like him b/c I

tell him what I want and he doesn't fight with me. He doesn't have a

inflated ego and is fine if you consult with other people. But it

would be nice to have a dr. who could anticipate adrenal issues a bit

better...
