Guest guest
Actually, " dada " is an instict. They generally say it around 8 mos (this is per the woman that comes from EI from the AZ School of the Deaf and Blind). I was rather shocked when my son said it too, but it is natural. As for the rest....who knows how he knows them. I really don't. He seems to " talk " quite a bit and if you sit down with him facing you, he'll tell ya all about his day. We kinda have " conversations " a lot. I talk to him all the time. I don't care that he can't hear me, but he can feel the vibrations. At least thats something. " G. " wrote: Dear , wow. I am amazed that Christian is profoundly deaf and still saying those things. Ricky is 7.5 months, only a month early yet at 4 months old in development. He is not even close to forming any type of words. My other two (33 and 34 wkers) I dont even think they said that much then, mama and dada were said by 8 months I think with them. I dont see that happening at all with Ricky I am amazed what children with hearing loss can do!! Just think how well he'll do with his speach once the implant is in, watch out!! --- wrote: --------------------------------- He's almost 10 1/2 months old (almost 7 mos adjusted). ===== SAHM to Danny (33wker now 9), Olivia (34wker now 2), and Ricky (born May 13, 2004 at 36 wks!) ~i~ & Karina~i~ (Sept. 6/00) ***Visit Our Family Website*** http://www.geocities.com/poohbear1252 __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Guest guest
My son is 7 1/2 months. He is profoundly deaf and he loves to tell us all about his day. Not only does he love to make screeching noises, he loves blowing raspberries. Also we now play a game where I stick out my tongue and he sticks his out in response. I feel somehow like he understands everything a hearing child may, through expressions. Enjoy every sound your kids make because each one is a step in a good direction. Good luck, and Happy New Year Zoey Mom of Landon -Profoundly deaf, waiting for Cochlear Implant wrote: Actually, " dada " is an instict. This made me laugh out loud! I'll have to tell my husband .... he thought is was grand that the kids said dada before mama. It was the source of all kinds of jokes when they were younger.
