If you do a search for " weight charts " you can get several. I'll see what I

can find. Remember that some of them are kind of " off " unless you are a stick.

Sherry,

The standard for years was always that for women, they should weigh 100 pounds plus 5 pounds for every inch they are taller than 5 feet. So, a woman 5' 5" tall should weigh 125 according to that. So, accordingly, she'd be a bit underweight. If she has a small frame, then 116 is probably a perfect weight for her.

What size does she wear? I'm guessing probably a 6 or 8?

I've always heard the rule was 100 pounds for up to 5' tall and then either

3 or 5 pounds PER INCH of height over 5'. Since I'm 5'6 " that would mean

I'd be " ideal " at 118 or 130... (100 + 3x6 OR 100 + 5x6)

But who knows if that's an old wives tale or what! LOL

hahahah I agree Lori! My goal weight is 150. I've been down there, back in

1990 and ya know what, I *still* thought I was fat. For me, I think it could

be a problem with a distorted body-image. I wonder what I will think WHEN i

get down to goal... wonder if I'll still think I'm too fat and want to lose

more. Naaaaah, heck, at that point I'll just be thrilled to have made it TO

goal! LOL

Marlena,

You know, I do worry about that myself. I am afraid I will get to 150-

160 and look in the mirror and still see fat. :( Even now, after what

I have lost, it is hard for me to really tell. If I take a picture of

me before I started Atkins and a picture now, then yes...I can tell.

However, that is only if I have the pix side by side. I know I have

obviously lost weight....I've dropped about 5 sizes and many

lbs....but I still see fat. I know even when I get to my goal I'll

still think I am big. Hopefully by then, I'll be able to deal with it!

Took the words right outta my mouth! I don't think I look any different

yet I have gone from a size 18/20 to a size 12/14 (or sometimes even a 10).

I've lost over 40 pounds and just don't seem to believe it. Once in a while

I'll catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and be pleasantly surprised.

Unless I see pictures of myself side-by-side, it doesn't seem like it's

really happening.

It was 100 pounds up to 5 feet tall then 5 pounds for every inch over that.

It was insurance tables, I'd read. I would be 115 pounds...I think I was

born at 115 pounds!

I have been at my goal weight and still thought I was too heavy. My

stomach, butt, thighs and upper arms will always be heavy to me no matter

what I weigh. Seeing the pictures does help, but even then you start to

think it was just what you were wearing or something and you are still

heavy. Guess those before and after shots need to be in our birthday suits,

but then we wouldn't be able to post them anywhere without the porn police

after us. LOL

Lori and Marlena,

I know what you mean about body image. Sometimes (the first time I lost all that

weight)I would still feel fat. One day I was in a convenience store with my

hubby and I was bending over to get something (note: my butt has always been the

bane of my existence!) and he walked right past me and said, " excuse me miss " ,

not realizing it was me. Then he stopped all of a sudden and said, kind of

suprised, " My God you're so thin, I didn't know that was you! " That's when it

hit me how much different I looked. My own husband thought I was a younger girl!

WooHoo!

Following this were a couple other instances in the grocery store where people I

had been aquainted with for a long time actually didn't recognize me! Now I

still wanted to lose about 20lbs but it really made me feel different and

happier about myself.

You should remind yourself everyday how much you've acomplished. If that means

posting a before/after picture of yourself on your fridge, then do it! You can

start everyday with a reminder of how far you've come.

MJ,

Thanks! :) I don't have any " now " pix of me really, but I have a roll

of film to go get developed today, which has a few on there. So, I

just might take an old pic and one of the now ones and put them up. I

still have about 40 or so lbs to go, but at least I will see the

progress and know I am almost there! :)

I have people tell me alot that I look different. Last night I went

to my neice's birthday party. Both of my Grandmas and my Dad were

commenting on how I look and how proud they are of me. It made me

feel good, but then again I kept wondering if they really could

tell...or if they were just saying it to be nice. You know how

Grandmas are! LOL See, so even when someone tells me I look good...I

STILL have a hard time believing it!! :(

There's going to be a difference for people who were never heavy and people

losing weight. If you've been carrying around a lot of extra weight your

bones are larger and denser and you have built more muscle mass to carry the

extra. I haven't been able to find out if the bones change once they don't

have so much weight to carry. Anyway, a person who loses a lot of weight is

going to have a naturally heavier body even with a comparable fat

percentage.

I know exactly what you mean.

I am getting lots of comments lately. It makes me feel great and i feel like

i have great friends. However, i wonder if they would still say these things

if they didn't know i was on this WOE. I can't tell any difference in myself

and no one has complimented me that doesn't know.

I guess it is all the self-consciousness we have built up over the years.

I'm having the other happening, no one is really telling me I look

different. I didn't get out much before I started loosing weight so

no one but family really would notice a difference so it's a bit of a

downer but I feel good and I usually can tell a difference so I'm in

no way stopping. ;o)
