My understanding of Steiner schools and education is that they would say they educate the whole child and also protect the right to childhood. In practice that means that although a child might start school at four or five no formal academic learning takes place until six or severn. The early years are spent playing, much like many European countries.By the ages of eight or nine, children should have caught up with states schools and in many cases overtaken their peers.Having said that it is more about the person that this system produces by the time they are eighteen, than academic qualifications,( although these are very good in most cases ) I have been to visit two localish Steiner schools and atmosphere in both was wonderful. The teenagers are what really sold the idea to us. They were everything we would wish our girls to be, bright articulate, enthusiastic indepentent individuals. Although the schools are fee paying, the fees are much lower than a normal private school and in many places related to income. As a result the schools are not smart. You might also encounter are few more way out ideas of the crystal healing lentil eating kind ( not that there is anything wrong with lentil or crystals! ) We felt all the positives out weighed that. Sorry for waffling on. As you can probably tell it is something I feel queit excited about. I just hope that we manage to get the children there. Our nearest school is twenty miles away. Which is a lot with the cost of petrol and it feels a long way to have my four year old when she first starts in September. She will only go part time for the first few years though. The cost is also a worry. It is cheap but, it is still a big commitment with money it doesn't feel like we have! We will see, fingers crossed and all that. Guest guest
GREAT......the address here is 633 East Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL> 32803.if you know of anyone else with Cf , you can send to them instead tho..... LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBEV Hello Hello Everybody, GrandmomBev, Got the big box of stuff, thanks so much, and nope dont see why you would want to brag about , lol. Showed my mom the picture, she in turn showed it to Caleb and and told them that has cf just like , they got the picture. A couple of the books are doubles, so I was gonna send them back to you for somebody else who might want them, with the little time I get to read, I will be lucky to get through one let alone a copy of one, lol. So to do this, could you please send me your address, then I can get them in the mail. As for , I remember sitting back a few short months ago, reading the emails of others who were having a hard time getting their kids to eat, take enzymes, cooperate with cpts and treatments, and thinking how lucky I was that didnt fight me on these things, WELL LET ME TELL YOU, I would give anything to go back to those days, cause my little man has gotten more ornery with his first haircut, fights enzymes, has to be bribed to take them, not funny here, eating seems like a chore to me, have tried just about everything short of standing on my head, which would probably land my butt in the hospital with a concussion after falling, but still have a hard time getting the kid to eat, cpts, now we feel like we have run the triatholon when they are done, and pulmozyme treatments, well if I had to hold him any tighter I would probably squish him. OH DO I LONG FOR THE DAYS WHEN I COULD JUST HOLD HIM AND HAVE HIM DO WHAT I NEEDED HIM TO, LOL, guess those days are gone, and I am so thankful that he has a mind of his own and is such a fighter, I just wish he would chose his battles differently and let me do for him what I have to, darn the arms are sore, would like to contribute this just to , but I am afraid that age is playing a part here too, lol. Take care everybody, , mommy of 4, 16, working and paying for her own driving school, (my license is being retired, anyone in the Jersey area, this is your fair warning), Caleb 7, my sega loving little helper, 5, my little mommy, and s best friend, always calls Emmy, and , 22 months, who loves his brothers and sisters, playing outside, still thinks Barney is tops, and has a beautiful smile and big blue eyes, and a temper that is just as bad as he is cute [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] PLEASE do not post religious emails to the list. ------------------------------------------- The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY be construed as medical advice. Guest guest
Hi Tiffeny, welcome to the list. I only have a four year old daughter, who for unknown reason has just recently developed a better appetite. I have no experience with g-tubes though and fortunately our Fiona has always thrived well, although she ate very little. Hope you'll get some more advice from others. Bye Torsten > Hello! My name is Tiffeny and I am the mother of two beautiful daughters. Whitney, who is 7 > and Paige, who is 6. Both of them have cf and are doing pretty good.
