Guest guest
Haze I also have mitral valve prolapse as well as afib, although my afib is not nearly as bad as many on this list (knock on wood!!). I have a flu shot every year and am considering the pneumo shot as well. Never any after effects with the flu shot, and I'm hoping none with the pneumo. Having flu or pneumonia sounds bad for afib, so I'm taking no chances! Guest guest
Haze, For me an annual flu shot is a must! Also, a pneumonia shot every 5 years. Never had a problem at all! The viris is dead that they inject so you shouldn't have any ill effects at all. Debbi, OU Alum in OKC
Guest guest
Me too ~~~~ annual Flu shot is a must, as well as the pneumonia shot - but mine is every six years. I've never heard it referred to as a Flu Jab.........is that British? No problem with either jab ~~~~~~ Ellen *********************** ----- Original Message ----- From: Debbi For me an annual flu shot is a must! Also, a pneumonia shot every 5 years. Guest guest
Thanks Brenta, By the by, as we say here in England, *smile* ...does your cardio think your AFib is directly connected to or caused by your valve problems? For some reason my cardio doesnt think mine are interconnected, but I know valve disease can cause AFib in some. I wonder how he arrives at his conclusions..(and I alway forget to ask these questions when I see him..yes I know , I should stop looking into his eyes when I'm there (whew!) and write a list when I'm going...!) Guest guest
My cardio thinks my afib is related to a mild heart attack I had about 18 months before my afib showed up. I had known about the mitral valve thing for at least 25 years before the afib but none of my docs seem too concerned about the valve, and I've never had a symptoms related to it that I know of. They just hear it when they listen to my heart and comment that I have it. I do take antibiotics before dental procedures. My cardio also says that no one really knows what causes afib at this point in time, and the meds he has given me seem to be doing the trick keeping it under control.
