Guest guest
Hi , My daughter is 4 yo and started a program called the TLP (The Listening Program) designed after the Tomatis Method only this is a take home program and considerably cheaper in price. My dd started out on a 16 week program, that is listening to the same type of specially orchistrated tunes as the Tomatis for 15 minutes a day on each CD it would take us 2 weeks to complete 1 CD and there are 8. She had a 1 week break and started back a CD 1 for a half an hour a day this time for 8 weeks, she will complete 1 CD in 1 week. Some of the side affects are mainly some mild to moderate behaviours at CD 4 and 5. My dd does not have any significant behaviour problems so when this occured I was on the phone with the clinic helping me administering this, they said that this is normal on these 2 CDs and they helped me modify it, I am still giving this to her 1/2 hour a day but I broke it up to (2) 15 minute sessions a day and we are still done with each CD a week. This week we are on the dredded CD 4 and today was her first day, so far so good, I will keep you all in touch. I hope this helps, my dd is not autistic but she has Apraxia and since I started this program in January 04 and since she has been with her current SLP she is up to close to 250 words, stringing 2 words together and more social than she ever was. She always had eye contact with people and she always new how to relate to our world but I feel with this program her social capabilities only improved. Plese keep in touch if you have any more questions. Sorry this is so long I haven't been in my email for about 4 days and Im just trying to catch up with everyone. LOL Traci (Mom to ann 4.3 (this Saturday),Verbal Apraxia/DSI and Auditlory delay)

Guest guest
Traci: I, too, would love to know how to purchase the TLP CD's also. I love the fact that we can do this at home! Just like Sherry, I live in Illinois and would love to know more about this program. I have been reading so much about the benefits, that I want to give this a shot for , our 4 year old son, but I am not sure if he will wear headphones for any length of time...maybe while watching a movie???? Ha Ha My son also has eye-contact but his social skills are very far behind...he is SO shy and doesn't even say hello to people. I am hoping that this may help with this social issues. For what it's worth, a friend of mine has an aspergers daughter who will turn 12 this year. She lives in Nebraska and used TLP for her daughter. She said it was one of the biggest and best interventions she used and saw improvements in her daughter's ability to handle changes. PLEASE let us know how, where we can also benefit from the TLP CD's. Kim in Gurnee, Illinois > Traci - > Are you the Traci in Wisconsin? Is the listening program you are using the one that was designed by two OT's in Wisconsin by any chance? We're in Illinois and Josh's new OT wants to do a listening program designed by 2 OT's in WI and we are working on desensitizing his ears/head so he'll wear the headphones for the length of time necessary. If this sounds like the same program, can you email me privately to tell me more about it? Thanks. (srsilvern@y...) > > Sherry > > p.s.
