(sorry I had to let that out!!) --- end of quote --- Hi - I don't recall getting a decible loss number when my Sam had his ABR - I think it's more a guideline so perhaps your audiologist just was being cautious? I know you're frustrated but as Lydia - I believe - said soon he'll be able to do booth testing which will tell you more. My boys now are 12 and 10 and their testing and hearing aid fittings are SO much easier and have been as they've gotten older. Even 3 years old was easier for Sam than 15 months was.... A hearing test of any sort isn't like having your blood drawn where the results are pretty definitive. hearing tests are so subjective because they depend on how the child is feeling when they're tested, if there's a different person testing the child (we've found that makes a difference), etc. They are easier and more accurate as the child gets older....
