How much Cytomel did you swap it out for? Did you do it all at once or

gradually?

It depends on how much T3 you were on. How long were you off thyroid?

Val,

I swapped it out all at once starting October 1st. I took 10 mcg 3x/day

and built that dose to a total of 45 mcg, then I had to start backing

down. When I quit taking T3 altogether (last monday Nov 12 was my last

day), I was taking 10 mcg total per day and this was still causing my

adrenals to crash and me to stress dose.

I started 15 armour again on Nov 13th, one week ago. In the mean time, I

had to increase my hc to 37.5-40 (I had been weaning off hc and was down

to 27.5).

So how fast do you think I can raise? Since my adrenals are still pretty

fragile even though my stemps are quite steady, I know I have to be very

careful.

Thanks again,

Dahlia

>>It seem s to me your whoel problem has been raising too fast! I would

not raise more than 15MG per week. And I would LOWER that HC. That will

cause you more problems than it is worth so take a week or two off

thyroid raises to get the HC back to a reasonable level. Taking too much

HC just to be able to raiuse faster is NOT a good solution and will come

back to bite you. >>

Perhaps I was unclear, Val. I didn't raise hc in order to raise my armour

dose. I had to raise hc in order to survive the crash the T3 caused my

adrenals. I hear what you're saying on the hc dose, but I was sleepless

and unable to function until I raised the dose.

The straight T3 really knocked my adrenals for a loop. Now that I'm off

it, I expect to be able to taper hc 2.5mgs every 3 days. I am at the

point where I can only function on the current hc dose, and since it's

just for a short period, I thought I'd be okay. Am I wrong?

As for the Armour, you would not raise more than 15 mg per week from now

on (I'm currently at 45) or you would go back down to 30 (this is my 2nd

week)?

thanks,

Dahlia

>>For weak adrenls thta is too fast a taper down, and you do not want to

rushing this. >>

Okay, Val, I'm getting it. So, add 15 mg of armour every week when

dose/adrenals are stable. Does this mean when I get my dose back down to

my previous 27.5-30?

What do you suggest for tapering? For the past week or so, I've been

dosing between 37.5-40. Today I dosed 15-12.5-7.5-5. I had good energy

all morning for the first time in a week but was quite tired all

afternoon, which means I need to cut my morning doses, right? How do you

suggest I do this? And for how long?

Many thanks,

Dahlia

Val,

I'm still confused: you said <<you do not want to add any thyroid at all

until you get that dose stabilized>>.

Add any more to what I'm currently taking?, which is 30 mg armour, having

started 15 mg last week and added 15 mg this week. Is this dose okay

until I get back down to stable hc dose? Or do you mean cut the armour

out all together? Temps today continue to be stable, and I feel tons

better than I have in weeks on lower hc dose.

>>What do you suggest for tapering?

Yes you would cut the AM dosing first to 12.5 - 10 - 7.5 - 5

For abotu 5 days check temps and see if they are stable then.

10 - 10 - 7.5 - 5>>

I think this is really helping. I think what I took for signs of hypo

were actually signs of either too much hc or wrong dosing of hc.

Following this schedule so far today, I feel much, much better!! Thank

you! You're saving my life.:)))

>>I mean to not add MOREin while lowering HC. It will make lowering VERY

painful! JUst hold where you are with thyroid iuntil the HC dose is lower

and temps stabilize.>>

Hi Val,

Got it! I'll hold on at 30 mg armour until I'm back down on the hc.

Should I expect fluctuating temps while lowering hc and tough it out, or

does that indicate a need either to stress dose or go back up on my hc

dose?

Dahlia

p.s. Happy Birthday and thank you, Val.
