Guest guest
Hi, - I don't think you missed anything; I believe this is an error. There is absolutely no evidence that any of us have found to indicate that there's any sizable amount of iodine in white sugar (or brown sugar), and several of us have researched it widely. Additionally, Dr. Ain has said pointedly that he has never seen a cola that would be disallowed on the LID. Enjoy your wacky cake, your soft drinks, jam and mint sauce, and sleep well at night knowing you haven't increased your iodine intake because of them. (not a doctor, not a nutritionist) NYC PS - I have written to Sara about this, and will post her response when I receive it. I thought I pretty much had this all figured out and clearly understood the things I could and could not eat, but then I read the list of forbidden food items, which pretty much matched the list in the Thyca LID cook book, until I came to: " Sugar (about 11% of our iodine comes from sugar). " That's huge! How much sugar are we talking about. What about the wacky cake, soft drinks, griddle cakes, jam, and mint sauce (I love this on peas and boiled baby potatoes instead of the butter)? I have not read the sugar prohibition in any other source. Is this something new, or is this old information? How could I have missed this one? I have three weeks to go on this diet and I need some clarification fast. Any help would be appreciated.
