Hi Kim,

I am new to the group and was reading through old posts. I saw yours

and couldn't believe someone else has had the itching thing!! For me,

it seems to come on when I go more in the hypothyroid direction (T3

levels move out of optimal range) It's miserable! It wakes me up at

night sometimes and feels like I'm getting bitten by a gigantic

mosquito over and over. Have you found any solutions? Mine seems to

go away when I increase my T3 dose, but I'm not really sure. I'm

really relieved it happens to others! I feel like it's the strangest

thing. ( :

I have also had intermitant bouts of itching. Sometimes my legs,

sometimes arms, it is really bizarre especially since it seemed to

mostly happen at bed time. I take a benadryl and slather on lotion when

it happens.

The only thing that has worked for me was putting an ice pack on the

spot until I couldn't feel it anymore! It almost feels like it's nerves

under the skin, instead of the skin itself. Mine also happens mostly at

bedtime or during the night and it's always my upper arms (the front of

the ball of my shoulders). Is it all the time for you or only when your

thyroid levels are changing??

It isn't all the time, but I don't know about the thyroid levels

because I am concentrating on getting my temps stable before I start

changing my thyroid meds.

I itch in between my shoulder blades and sometimes one or two fingers,

sometimes little itchy bumps on my torso, and sometimes my arms. I've

been hypo and itchy for months now so, hopefully, if I ever get my

Armour dose up where it needs to be, the itching will subside too.

Thought of that too Sol. Do you find that rubbing in 10mg worth of

cream is a lot? I had to smear that stuff all over the place. I just

ordered a scale, BTW, because I don't trust the dosing syringe either.

Considering how I have been feeling today - sort of speedy and lots of

energy, but so much that it's making my back ache a little, I'm

convinced that I used too much and that I'm going to crash at some

point. However, I used a 1/4 tsp and only over-filled it a little

(couldn't control the stuff squirting out of the dosing syringe that

well). I just kept dipping my finger in there and spreading more on my

legs. I didn't even use everything in the tsp b/c I was worried about

having over-filled it a little. I guess the alternative explanation

is that I used as much as I was supposed to and that I absorbed it a

lot better than I have been by taking it orally with food, vitamins,

supplements, etc and being lactose intolerant and that it is doing

it's job transporting the thyroid hormone better? I took my next dose

of 7.5mg as a tab at noon and I'm going to stick with tabs for the

rest of the day. Hopefully I'll get that scale soon.

Temps are up some today too. Maybe all of the problems that I have

been having with cortisol are b/c I'm not absorbing it properly by

taking orally with my lousy gut and now that 1 grain of Armour is

actually getting it where it needs to go? I guess the only way of

knowing for sure is to go with cream only for several days and chart

temps, but I want to be sure that I have the measurements right so I'm

not OD'ing on the stuff. Scale should be here in a few.

Me too Val, but I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was

like the Energizer Bunny myself today, frenetic, but got a lot done.

I'm just afraid that what I was feeling was the adrenal response and

not the thyroid. My temps were also up .3 today from yesterday and I

could definitely feel it at times, although they ran the heat in the

building all weekend so it was like 80 when we got there. I used the

cream in the AM and pills the rest of the day. Maybe I'll repeat that

tomorrow and keep charting the temps and keep my fingers crossed that

I'm not headed for a dump. My scale is on the way too.

Just want to say that I also have very itchy upper arms & often across the top

of my back as well. They sometimes feel a little lumpy but generally just itch.

It is always worse when I get into bed, & sometimes during the evening as well.

I am very careful with washing machine liquid & do not use the supermarket

stuff, so it is not that causing it. They drive me mad.

Actually I just get hubby to give me a good scratch! If I do it myself I tend

to be too rough. I was just saying that I also get this problem, but I am not

looking for any antihistimine or such to get rid of it. It is nice to get

someone else to gently itch me for hours - I wish!

antihistamine?
