Thanks . I go for my upper GI today and I'll pay close attention to

what they say. If I do have this, what is next? The doctor mentioned a

hiatal hernia.

, Betcha don't have hiatal hernia & it is GERD just like some of the rest of us. If you do have a hiatal hernia & is not severe you will probably have to learn to live with & just take the meds & watch your diet.. I don't know if they have any type of new surgery for it but the old one they broke ribs to get to the area. Now they may be able to do it through the endoscopic tube ( new procedures coming up all the time) , maybe you could ask your husband if there is any new surgery for hiatal hernia. if you have H pylori there are 3 or 4 types of medication regimens that MD's prescribe I do know I felt really awlful while on those meds. The Flagyl gave me a metal tasting mouth but it went away after I finished the treatment.. I think my 4-5 hives I get aday are getting a little better I worked yesterday & went to lunch at Kentucky fried Chicken & had spicy chicken wings ( I love these). I had severe indigestion the rest of the day. I couldn't believe it. I only had two little hives today

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I could never eat this before without getting angioedema. Fondly,

There is a laporscopic procedure now for certain types of hiatial

hernias. I copied this on the procedure from this website:

http://www.medbroadcast.com/health_topics/health_conditions/hernia/ind

ex.shtml?treat_hiatus_hernia_surgery.html:

Nissen fundoplication

The most common surgical procedure is called a Nissen Fundoplication.

In this procedure, your surgeon will return your stomach from your

chest back into your abdomen. He or she will then wrap the top of

your stomach around your esophagus creating an envelope that acts as

a valve. This increases the pressure in your lower esophagus,

improving the natural barrier between your esophagus and stomach.

This helps to prevent the reflux of acid into your esophagus.

This type of surgery results in relief of the symptoms of the sliding

hiatus hernia in more than 90% of patients. In most cases, it is

important to try other methods of treatment before considering

surgery as an option. It is advisable to consult with a

gastroenterologist (a physician specializing in diseases of the

esophagus, stomach, liver and intestines) and a surgeon prior to

considering surgery for your sliding hiatus hernia

,

It may be my imagination, but my hives seem less since the apicoectomy. But

the fact that they are not gone totally means it is just my imagination. I

should probably try to stop the allegra and see what happens. The upper GI

was actually very interesting. You all must think I am crazy to say that

but it really was. I guess I don't get out much. I think I need a vacation

(without the kids)!!!

, I forgot to say. I'm still taking the Allegra 60mg twice a day. I'm not stopping it until I don't see ANY CU. The ones I get still itch like the dickens when I wake up in the morning but go away after I take the Allegra. kELLY

my wife had the surgery for a hiatial hernia and gerd. It was

wonderful. they made six very small incisions that they went through

to fix the hernia and to wrap the stomach..she had some pain for

about two weeks and couldnt eat very much for a couple of weeks but

she absolutely has not had any problems with reflux in almost two

years.
