That chocolate and peanut butter shake sounds delish!! Let's see! In the vicinity of the Venetian is Treasure Island (be sure to catch the pirate show (outside)), Harrah's, Imperial Palace (has an car museum), Mirage, Caesars Palace (lots of walking but worth it), Flamingo. In the next block are Bally's, Paris, the Bellagio (check out the garden area--it changes with the holidays), Aladdin, Desert Passage. Those are the ones within walking distance. One of my favorite casinos is the Las Vegas Hilton because it has the Star Trek Experience. And that is fantastic. Quarks is fun but a little pricey (aren't they all) but the time we went it was a lot of food for the money. MGM Grand is another must-see casino. Circus Circus has a small indoor amusement park but a lousy buffet. The Sahara had a really good buffet the last time we were there. Further from the Strip is the Orleans (on Tropicana). They have a really good buffet. The Rio (on Flamingo) has a neat free show-in-the-sky that shows every 2 hours in the afternoon/evenings except Wednesdays. Down by is the Reserve and Sunset Station. Take Flamingo east to Nellis Blvd. to get to Sam's Town. It has a good show in the atrium day or night and I've heard a good buffet. I didn't mean to get you all exhausted by touring the casinos. And there are lots of places where you can read restaurant/buffet/hotel reviews & trip reports that people write about their vacations to LV. The more expensive buffets have larger peeled shrimp & /or crab legs. I also hear that the seafood buffet at the Orleans hotel on Monday nights is EXCELLENT and you can often find 2 for 1 coupons for it in the tourist magazines. For the person who is going to the Venetian: If you eat at the Grand Lux cafe there, be sure you split entrees with another person because the portions are HUGE. Have fun in my Fav. city! And it's good regular food, well prepared and quite tasty! Now, they didn't have any seafood on it but if you're not a big seafood eater why spend the extra bucks for a dinner buffet that includes the seafood? I think the places with impressive seafood displays ran about $25-$30 for dinner. Also, they were the places that had the most tempting dessert items too. The Rio is known for their seafood buffett but the Bellagio was phenomenal... albeit pricey. I really loved the Monte Carlo buffett and felt it was a great value for the food (which was very good). Guess I coulda been less wordy and just said " hey, =I= recommend the Monte Carlo! Weekend buffets and Sunday brunches cost more than week nights. The seafood buffet at the Rio is something like $$25.00. Their other buffet is between $15 & $20. Those prices may or may not seem high to y'all but 10 years ago the prices were a whole lot less.
