Well I told my mom I am having surgery in February. I sat her down

in front of the computer and showed her the picture of the procedure

on the DS infomation zone and carefully explained what it was and why

I was doing this. She asked how I found out about this procedure and

doctor, and is this safe. I told her I was very careful in my

research and that I did not want to jump into anything. We talked

about me being fat as a child and life long diets, and that I had

finally come to the end of the road. I showed her pictures of Kris

and other DS'ers told her about how much weight I would lose and the

risks.

Now I swore I would not tell my family because they wouldn't be

supportive, but my mom floored me with her next statement, She

said " How come you waited so long! "

Teri:

Isn't that just the best? When we think that we are going to be told

we don't need that, all we need to do is.........

My parents are concerned the same as they would be for me to have

surgery of any kind. I have their full support as well as my

husband. I simply told them that there is a risk I may not survive

the surgery. I told them this choice provides the only REAL chance

for me to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. Without this surgery I will

probably be dead in 5 years and they would need a piano box to bury

me in. And that has been my mom and dad's worst fears for me since I

was a little (ha) girl. I gave them the information on the surgery.

I gave the pro's and con's. I need their love and support. I am

nothing without the love I see mirrored in their eyes. They don't

see a grossly abnormal human being. They see me with love. I feel

so badly for people that do not have that. Ain't it great to feel

the love.

Signing off and drying my eyes,
