The Department of Justice is requesting comments regarding revisions

in the American with Disabilities Act of 1990. Now is a good time

to put in our 2 cents worth regarding acoustical guidelines to

accomodate deaf and hard of hearing people. It has been 15 years

since the passage of the ADA and I would say that it is about time

that the largest group of persons with disablities, namely the deaf

and hard of hearing, should be entitled to better

communications accessibility.

You can access the DOJ web site at www.adaanprm.org

(http://www.adaanprm.org) where there is a form for submitting

comments. I would urge every one submit comments. Keep in mind that

the ADA states that communications with persons with disabilities

shall be as effective as with others and moreover, prohibits

architectural barriers in new and remodeled construction. Poor

acoustics is an architectural barrier to the deaf and hard of

hearing as well as to many others.

Please won't you take a moment to submit your comments to the dept

of justice. The deadline for the submittal of comments is Tuesday

May 31, 2005

Sincerely

Mike Nixon
