Hi, ,

The AP story says that Mr. Hicok was able to walk up to half a mile

after receiving electric shock treatment. Is that information

inaccurate? The introduction from the RFL noted an error in

diagnosis, but did not comment to the waking report. Or am I

misreading the article?

Don, I really don't know how accurate any of this info is. I ask

that question to the ALSTDF forum. So far haven't heard anything

that would really answer that question other than a suggestion to

contact this guy directly.

Not sure I'd volunteer for shock therapy :-)

I heartily agree with . Anecdotal occurrences of this type are

rampant in published literature. I don't know the specifics or circumstances

of this person's condition, but I'd be very cautious about embarking upon a

course of such drastic treatment without some extensive scientific research.

Over the years, a multitude of medical claims have been made for all kinds

of unusual treatments--bee stings, sky diving, laetrile, lizard saliva, and

nutritional supplements too numerous to mention. As the adage goes--if it

sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
