Dee,

Not that you should push it too much yet, but your diarrhea may get better as

you start more food. Your body has nothing to bulk it up right now. It is

most important to get those fluids in though. That is the same thing that

Dr. Hess told me when I left the hospital. He said I know the nutritionist

tells you what you can eat, but I don't care what you eat in the first while,

just be SURE to get those fluids in. The nutritionist told me I needed at

least 1.5 liters a day. So in those first few weeks when absolutely nothing

tasted good, I just sipped all day on my 3 500ml bottles of water (which

tasted like I was drinking medicine). I feel for you. It has been a

difficult journey for you. Hopefully each day will be a tiny bit better.

Thank you Dawn... I appreciate your encouragement. I never heard the 1.5 liters a day advice.. but I will try to see how I'm doing compared to that.

It's always so good to hear from others! Thanks again sweetie... Love, Dee

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the rough time you have been through. You

will recover 100% and feel SUPER! Please get your liquids in any way you

can, they are so important.

PS: For me intense itching, is worse than pain. I probably would have died

with the itching you described from your epidural!

Lupita and Kris...

I wanted to thank both of you for taking time (and money) to speak to me on

the phone and online and give me so much information and such straight

answers about the DS.

I have an appt. to see a PCP on 1/24, hoping and praying he'll give me a

referral to a surgeon.

I've scheduled an appt. with both a Dr Elariny in VA that does DS Lap, and

Dr. Maguire in Ohio, which most of you know. :-)

I'd just like to see both and make a more infomed decision.

Wish me luck with the referral.. thanks again!

Diane

P.S. I have a surgery date scheduled with Dr. Maguire for 4/17/01 pending

insurance.. *GULP*

DEEEEE!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you've been having such rough time. Hoping you feel

better and better each and every day. You sound tired to all the BS you've

had to deal with. It happens as we're all well aware of. Please post more

often when you feel up to it. You've had a tremedous loss - 60 lbs! Your

body must feel good about that. I know what it's like to feel crappy every

day and not see any end to it. Hopefully it will get easier for you - from

reading about post ops - most start to feel much better after the 3 month

mark - I think! I miss you on the list. Be well.

Resa,

Awww... thank you sweetie. Yes, I do think you're right. I have heard so

many people say that they feel NORMAL again after 3-4 months... so I'm

holding out for that. I wasn't all that normal to start... so we'll see :o)

I do think that my life will slowly get back to it's routine now that I'm

back at work. AND, I won't have as much time to dwell on poor pitiful me.

I'm serious about that. I think I just was bored some of the time and let my

mine be occupied with how lousy I felt. So now I'm back to helping other

people through work and I already feel better. I hate to think of myself as

being selfish, but I think that I really had fallen into that hole. Thank

goodness I have people around me to offer me a rope to climb out!

Thanks again for your good wishes, Resa... you are such a dear :o)

Love, Dee

Feel free to e-mail me privately at Whynot8770@... with any questions you

have.

I am still pre-op so I'll answer all I can, however, your best resource might

be to talk to post-ops.

Good to hear from you Dee in Ohio!

You do not sound like a whiner, you're being honest. You experience

is probably more the norm. Not trouble free, but on the road to

recovery.

May all your poops be solid.
