Guest guest
Good morning Dianne, glad to hear from you and learn that you live in Prairieville. You are right down the street from me, I live in Old Jefferson off Barringer (lol). Tameron was born at Woman's and Dawn is her audio. We had Tameron in Early Steps and since she is three she is out. She goes to the hearing impaired program at LaSalle off Jefferson/Lobdell. Tameron had a mild/moderate loss in her one good ear and it bottomed out. We are bringing her to N.O. next week to meet with the surgeon for the implant. Joyce G. Also, he receives EI from Early Steps, which is free to anyone regardless of income. He receives speech once a week now (thanks to the support from this group it increased from once a month!). Let me know if you are interested in any of the people that we are using. Wish you all the best. Guest guest
Hi , Tameron's cousins are twin girls. They are a year old and hear quite well. Tameron has a brother that's five months old and he hears well also. I am so glad to hear of the progress that has made. I have learned from observing Tameron that despite her inability to hear, she is a very bright little girl. We have noticed that when we bring Tameron some where she pays attention to the route we take. When she travels that route again she for some reason always know where she is. Her mom and dad took her to the zoo in N.O. off of St. . The following week my husband and I took her with us back to N.O. and we went to our favorite eatery on St. . Well, when we were getting off the interstate on St. , she sat up looked around and started pointing because she knew she had been on that street before, it's amazing! Because of her lack of hearing she seems to be very keen on everything else. Show her something " one " time and that's it! Good luck with and I am so happy for her progress. Joyce G. One with hearing loss? Tameron still is young enough to learn to talk. was almost 3 before we figured out she couldn't hear. We spent 2 years working very hard with lots of guilt (especially directed at her and me by professionals). Once we got her to Moog and got her implant mapped appropriately she took off. She has made close to 2 years progress each year at Moog. Your daughter and Tameron are fortunate to have you in their corner. ----- Original Message ----- I was talking to my co-worker before I read your email and she was telling me that her cousin moved from La. to St. Louis also. Guest guest
Because to her, nothing IS wrong. Everything is going to be fine. You are doing well to get set with all the information you are getting. Just love your daughter and communicate with her, no matter WHAT mode you use. Communication is the key, whether it be sign or oral. My daughter does attend a school for the deaf. I believe it is one of the best things I've done for her, along with her implant at age 10. All I want is for Tameron to be able to >communicate. Guest guest
Cute! I still laugh about turning off his hearing aids the first day of school and telling his teacher he needed a little " quiet time! " Of course, my all time favorite was when and his sisters were watching a video of when (my 4 year old) was born. (2 at the time) asked if she was born yet. said, " no, that's when was born. " " Well, was I in Mommy's tummy yet? " she asked. " No, " replied, " you were just an egg in daddy's testicles! " Diet Coke flew out my nose at that one!!!
