I am not so positive it was the mercury though that may have been the

straw that broke the camel's back. The fact that you wereill could have

been a warning that your HC dose was not keepign up wiht the increased

demands of the metabolic raise from the Cytomel. Then add another

illness which SUCKS cortiosl out of oyu and you did nto take enough so

it got your cortisol reserves adn now you have none. Either way I would

not be afraid to raise HC until you feel better 25-30mg will not hurt

oyu and staying just barely enough wher you can;t build reserves will

hurt you.

Hi Val

Thanks so much for getting back to me quickly on this. What you say

really makes sense, that I've exhausted my adrenal reserve. I think

it was pretty feeble to begin with. Dr Peatfield did diagnose

" adrenal hypoplasia congenita " , so perhaps I'll need HC long-

term...

Yes, that first infection was really flu-like and had made robust

friends of mine very ill, so I can see now how I was wrong not to

stress dose properly then. I have to overcome my fear of being on HC,

I know. Re my current dose, I'm all shaky again this afternoon

despite a 5mg stress dose which hasn't touched the shaking (have been

getting trembly every afternoon all week) so I will definitely up the

HC as you suggest.

Just a couple of questions though if that's ok:

1)If I'm on 20mg HC now, how fast and at what times of the day should

I ramp up? I'm currently dosing 7.5-5-5-2.5. The afternoon 5mg seems

way too little at the moment though. Afternoon is easily my worst

time of day.

2) Do you think I should stay on the 37.5mcg Cytomel for now? Or

reduce?? (If I go without I very quickly deteriorate with terrible

exhaustion and almost unbearable muscle pains) But perhaps I have to

start again?

Thanks again Val. Dr Peatfield's not contactable til the middle of

next week so I can't tell you how much I appreciate your advice.

Best,

Louise

If oyu get enough in the AM I am betting the afternoons will even out. I would

go to

10 - 7.5 - 5 - 2.5 and see how thta feels.

I dont; think you shoudl have to start over, but releiving the stress wiht a

slightly lower dose liek going ot 30MCG might be a good idea.
