Guest guest
When are you taking the fasting? If when you first wake before getting up, you need ot lower your Pred. If you are up for even a little while you are catching what is called " Dawn Rise " which is the natural rise in blood sugar in the AM. You can also do a fasting blood reading during the daytime but it must be 5 hours or longer since eating or drinking ANYTHING but wtaer. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets

Guest guest
Ok. I didn't know that. I took it after I had got up, showered etc, so it could be the dawn rise. I will take it when I wake and see what it is then. My feeling is that I will have to lower the Pred, which I have been taking a bit too much of recently. I wake every morning at 4am (I think as cortisol should start rising) but mine doesn't, so I take more pred in order to get back to sleep - otherwise I get palpitations for the rest of the night, and am shot to bits during the day from waking so early. I need a full 5mg to get through the day - otherwise I am horizontal by 4pm. Do you know why my blood sugar would fall after a meal? thanks Nicola -- In NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS , T wrote: > > When are you taking the fasting? Guest guest
>>Do you know why my blood sugar would fall after a meal?<< YES! The meal is enough to trigger an insulin response from your pancreas where you r fasting is not . As soon as oyur pancreas makes insulin, the glucose drops. This is the startof insulin resistance where the 120 or even 100 reading should be creatign enough insulin ot lower it but the amount of insulin you are making is not enough to lower it, thus it shows insulin resistance. When do oyu take the 5NG Pred? Have you tried splitting that into a couple doses? -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets

Guest guest
I take the Pred all in one go - at 7am. Why would splitting the dose make a difference? thanks Val - this is all very helpful. I have been on the Pred for more than 18 months now, and have not had problems with high glucose before - in fact, if anything, I always had low blood sugar (fasting level of 75 when I last had a blood test). I am wondering what has changed in the last six months. How do I treat insulin resistance? Chromium? I already eat very low GI - meat, vegetables and eggs, basically, so I can't make any changes there. I guess I will be weaning down on the Pred... By taking a small dose later in the day it would carry you through the night better. Say 3MG am then around 1PM take the other 2MG. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets
