Guest guest
This is true. I will tell you some people cannot absorb it sublingually (I can't). If you don't notice that you feel better, make a note of it. Keep in mind if you are new to armour that you will feel a bit worse before you feel better as well. Good luck. andrea Re: Armour dosage Hi Chrissie,Some of us do better by splitting the pill up and taking it in quarters over the day....1/4 in morning, 1/4 mid morning, 1/4 mid afternoon, and the last at bedtime. Some of us take it sublingually while others take it by swallowing. It sounds like your doc is having you take it like it was similar in molecular construction to a Synthroid pill. Luckily for us it doesn't have the sodium molecule attached to Armours molecular construction. It sure is easier to take it by swallowing...its just for some of us, we absorb it better, faster, by taking it sublingually. Starting off on 1 grain sublingually, if you spread it out over the day shouldn't be a problem for you(in theory that is)...Even if taken all at once swallowed, it shouldn't be a problem. The Armour website likes to be conservative, which can be a good thing. If you want, start off like the web site suggests...1/2 grain for a week or two, 3/4 grain for another week or two and then on up to the full grain...It all depends upon how your body reacts to the addition of this life-long medicine. For me, one grain didn't give me any problems. it was when I got up to the higher dosages that I had to take the increases in very small increments. Topper, on the other hand,(I hope she doesn't mind me using her experiences as an example here) had to start off with very small dosages, with the increases spread out over months instead of weeks.... We all have different sensitivities to the addition of T4 and T3 to our bodies systems....You will need to find out how your body reacts to Armour and go from there. In my humble opinion, you are lucky that you found a doc that will give you Armour...that the doc will work with you in finding if Armour will do what you need it to do for you. Did the doc screw up...nahhhhh, however it is a good place to start with, the 1 grain dosage for most people...and maybe the doc see's that you need this much to even make a dent in how you feel....one never knows until one trys it....Me, personally, I would give it a try...however the choose is yours in how you take it....Isn't it great that you have the power and are beginning to learn the knowledge on how to control your own body/life?!!!Gossimer >> We agreed previously that 60 mg = 1 grain. I just got my perscription, and it is for 60mg/day. When reading the Armour spec sheet, it says to start on 30mg for 2-3 weeks, then up it 15 mg each 2-3 weeks thereafter.> > So, is starting on 60mg (1gr) ok, or did the doc screw up and give me too much to start out with, or doesn't it matter?> > Pharmacist also said to take it first thing in the morning before doing anything or eating anything and then waiting 1/2-1hr before eating or taking anything else. 60 mg all at once? I think I have heard you guys saying to take it at intervals throughout the day. Guest guest
- I thought the reason people take it sublingually is because they were having absorbtion issues when they took it orally? How does it not absorb for you sublingually? Just curious and trying to figure out the best way to take Armour. Thanks, Robin V. -- In The_Thyroid_Support_Group , " Teague " wrote: > > This is true. Guest guest
Chrissie - in my experience I immediately felt better. My Mom did too. I was on 75 mcg of Synthyroid when I started Armour. My doc went to the Armour website where they have a conversion chart and figured that my 75 mcg of Synthroid was 3/4 grain of Armour. So that is what I started out on. I took my raises slow. Only upping by 1/4 of a grain every 2-3 weeks as it says in the Armour dosing instructions. After I reached 2 grains, I started raising by 1/2 grains. Usually by the end of 2-3 weeks I could feel that I need to raise. When you do raise you get the " honeymoon period " where you feel great for awhile and then you need to raise again. Some people have no problem raising 1/2 grain. Once you reach 3 grains you need to stay there for 6 weeks or so, so that your T4 has a chance to build up . Then get your thryoid hormones tested to see where they are at. The Free T3 and Free T4 tests. Here is the link to the Armour website dosing instructions. http://www.armourthyroid.com/armourthyroid_pi.pdf Good luck and good health! Robin > > > > We agreed previously that 60 mg = 1 grain.
Guest guest
I honestly don't know why it doesn't work for me. Some people are just different I guess. My guess is that I needed my t3/t4 combo to kick start me. What you will find is that it is often the case that what works for someone else may not work for you and vise versa. You will learn over time to listen to your body and through that you will learn what works best for you. good luck, andrea Re: Armour dosage> > > Hi Chrissie,> Some of us do better by splitting the pill up and taking it in > quarters over the day....1/4 in morning, 1/4 mid morning, 1/4 mid > afternoon, and the last at bedtime.> > Some of us take it sublingually while others take it by swallowing. > It sounds like your doc is having you take it like it was similar in > molecular construction to a Synthroid pill. Guest guest
When you are thyroid hormone defficient for a long time, your body gets used to having to suppress itself. Then all of a sudden your body gets all the hormones in armour and goes a bit crazy trying to eat them all up and absorb them all... then your adrenal glands get a kick start and because of that your body starts being able to tell you how crappy it was feeling all along. The more your body adjusts you go through spikes of feeling really great then kind of bad... the more it goes on, the less the roller coaster gets until it levels out. It helps while taking armour to take a natural form of adrenal support as well. This way your body isn't shocked as much. The down side to that is you won't be able to tell which symptoms go to what disease because they often mimick each other. I need to look into adrenal support myself. What is the natural form that everyone is taking?? I don't want to take just anything that claims to work... I need proof.. so buddies, what have you? , Re: Armour dosage Hi Chrissie,Some of us do better by splitting the pill up and taking it in quarters over the day....1/4 in morning, 1/4 mid morning, 1/4 mid afternoon, and the last at bedtime. Some of us take it sublingually while others take it by swallowing.
