Guest guest
Never get fed up with questions around here.. it's the BEST way to learn! Story time.... I was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer in my early 20s. Spent the next two years running all my food through a blender before eating it.... everything bland.. and sucking down liquid antacids til I got hassled by a cop for hiding behind a door at a car show while I drank out of my brown paper bag.... I had to poor the stuff out, Maalox, for him to see it wasn't booze... after the my BF said that I couldn't carry liquid when we went out, I had to carry the chewables. I couldn't do citrus, or anything even remotely spicy for years.... I couldn't eat during the five to six hours before laying down for bed or I'd wake up spewing all over the bed. Decades... not a year or two.. decades... Three things stopped it all... not lessened it... not made it more bearable.. stopped it completely... and so effectively that I can lay in bed and eat pizza and then roll over and go right to sleep. First thing.. switching to natural thyroid, getting my levels up and then figuring out the dosing timing that my body needed. Second.. adding adrenal support, that got my body to handle things better, and get my stress tolerance back. Third.. switching to mini meals. Between the thyroid and adrenal support my digestive system functions better. It's able to process food better cuz my muscles are working better and I'd venture to say that the stomach/digestion pacemaker works better.. so that my food gets digested better and moved on down the line instead of sitting in my stomach to long and fermenting instead... with the mini meals I'm eating less at a time, so that my body doesn't have so much work to do all at one time... I'm a serious believer in that... that if our bodies are so weak and tired and our of sync that we don't have the energy to clean house and go for a walk and such... how the heck can we expect them to have the strength and energy to process a big meal... I spent half my life having to deal with food making me sick if I ate the wrong stuff or ate at the wrong time. Even when I was in Thyroid storm and eating non stop I had to watch what I was shoveling down. I think part of why I stopped sleeping the last few months before RAI had as much to do with not being able to lay down with a full stomach as it did having to stay up to keep eating cuz it was the only way to keep from losing more weight. Recently, I would say about a week or so, I have been getting really terrible heartburn? Does anyone else get this and if you do what is the cause? Is it common in hypothyroidism?
