Hi Barry,

I had the breath test for H-pylori, but I think you can have a blood test as

well. The breath test was very informal and straighforward. I just went

along to my GP and asked for one, and she referred me to hospital where I

had it a few weeks later. As I remember they gave me this chalky milkshake

type of stuff to drink, then waited twenty minutes or something like that,

then made me breath hard three times into a tube which would have detected

the H-pylori. I got the results via my GP a couple of weeks later. I had

the choice of two 'flavours' to drink, neither of which were particularly

appetising. I opted for butterscotch, and it wasn't at all convincing!

Kind of wish they'd just told me to drink the nasty tastless medical stuff

without trying to disguise it as something pleasant - cos they were way off

the mark on the butterscotch front! In fact it was so horribly artificial

that I think it gave me the hives I woke up with the next day, but that's

urticarian life for you.....!
