I just started on Toprol XL yesterday, and am dreading taking the

next dose in a few minutes. It took 25mg, and it made me feel like a

zombie for the rest of the day. Evidently, I just have to grin and

bear it until I am cardioverted in about a month. I hope that is

sucessful.

When we are told that life is precious during healthy times we ignore

that old saying. I am now a firm believer in that old addage as my

life has changed dramatically. I am trying to keep my chin up but for

someone who is used to swimming a mile a day, it is difficult not to

be able to do the most basic chores around the house or go for a walk.

I took a walk yesterday, about a mile but my heart felt like it was

going to beat out of my chest so it probably wasn't a good thing. Is

this normal for someone with Afib? I suppose symptoms of others run

the gamut but I would like to get some kind of concensous about an

average excercise ability while in Afib. This morning I just watered

the flowers and am completely pooped.

I am a 63 year old male who has been actively excersizing his entire

life. I have become obese since I retired and that no doubt played

into this. I have lost 15 pounds since the inception of Afib.(a plus!!)

For me that reaction to exercise when in afib is normal. Others, esp.

Vagal People :-) find exercise helps.

When I started on 25 mg I also was impacted and my doc told me to snap

the pills in half and take 12.5 mg in the morning and 12.5 mg in the

evening. That did help.
