It's not normal, though it can be a symptom of being hyperthyroid. > Also I have muscle aches on my neck and upper shoulder. Is this also > common/normal? Again, I don't think it's normal - it may not have any connection with your thyroid meds. Muscle aches can be a symptom of being hypo. Just to confuse things, a percentage of people (my endo says about 10%) have hyper symptoms when hypo and hypo symptoms when hyper. And there are other things that can cause both of these things. > I used to jog a lot. 3 or 4 times a week, 8 km each time. Is it > safe for thyca like me to work out and sweat a lot? Does he seem to understand a lot about thyca? For example - does he know about keeping your TSH suppressed to <0.1, about doing an LID, about timing between scans...stuff like that. It's important to be treated by someone who understands how things should be done, because the treatment and followup for thyca is different from other cancers. > Also, what is foggy brain? how does it happen? Do I have it? Tee hee..foggy brain, or brain fog (I like your version!) is when things like this happen: You start a sentence and can't remember the rest of your thought. You can't think of a word as you're talking. You walk into a room to get something and forget what you wanted. You do weird stuff like...um...pour orange juice in your coffee. Some of the things are similar to stuff women go through around menopause, or things that happen when you're REALLY sleep deprived. When I was telling friends that I was doing this, they all said " I do that stuff all the time :-) " It's like fog has settled over your brain and dulled it. It's probably one of the most common symptoms of being hypo. I can't tell you if you have it, but I bet you'd know :-) > I feel like a dry sponge!!! Do you mean your skin? That's often a symptom of being hypo...really really dry skin, eyes, etc. Cheers, Alisa Currently - TSH 0.09, 140mcg Levoxyl 2/15/2002: Nodule found 2/27/2002: FNA 3/4/2002: Hysterectomy/oopherectomy-possible ovarian cancer - BENIGN!! 4/9/2002: TT - Stage 2 pap 2.5 x 2 x 1.6 cm nodule, dx Hashimotos 5/28/2002: 100 mCi RAI 12/16/02: WBS (5 mCi): clean scan - no thyroid tissue in body!!!
