Guest guest
Sharon, I really hope you continue to improve!!!! Love, ~Alena's Mom Relief / Jumping the gun Hi, I know I'm jumping the gun - but I'm sort of excited - I feel I may have found one of the major triggers for me. I had asked my doctor about whether the Pill could have been the cause of my hives, seeing I had only started taking this new brand in December, 2000 (I'd been off it for a couple of years). And I had my first allergic reaction in January (which I attributed to the sunscreen). He only shrugged and said maybe the colouring of the pills. After this from the doctor, it had put me off trialling going off it for the time being due to a number of factors. Anyways someone posted here that they had been off it for two weeks with no hives. That gave me incentive to try not taking it and I have not taken it now since Monday. Monday I was fine - no hives, no medication. Tuesday I was fine until late afternoon - but I was also a little cocky, thinking I had found the cause and could now eat and take anything and took aspirin to relieve a really bad headache. I was itchy Tuesday night, but did not take medication. Wednesday morning I was starting to break out badly so I took my antihistamines - but I think this is totally related to the aspirin. Today, Thursday I have not broken out, and haven't taken medication in over 30 hours. Another recent post here has given me hope too. I have a few slight small itches, but reading an e-mail from Dave Malcolm today, has confirmed what I was thinking that it may take awhile for my body to get back to normal and I'm just super sensitive to any itches at the moment. I have however had the cough/difficulty breathing come back on this morning and the only things I have had today are cereal with milk (two things I should be avoiding) and 2 cups of coffee. The cough and difficulty breathing have started to calm down now with no medication. I suppose this could come back to what the allergist said - that I am more sensitive to these foods now in my current state. Or as I am typing this, I just realised it could really be a colouring of some type. The cereal had coloured bits in it. My doctor mentioned something like Tart??zine (but I can't read his writing). I've searched for it on the Internet, but with no luck yet. Does anybody know what it may be? I'm sure I did read it in an article that mentioned a colouring before I went to the doctor but cannot find it now. Thanks for reading - gee, it helps to type this out and get your thinking straight. I am still am making progress, although I have had some break thru hiving, but nothing compared to what I am used to. I just wanted to tell you , I continued to keep taking zz combo during my trial. I was afraid to stop them. Maybe you should maintain the antihistimines for awhile. Just a thought. I really hope this is the answer for you. Guest guest
Hi Barb Just read this letter. I was told that it was very important to get of estrogen because of angioedema. There is also a notice in one of the sections of the HAE site telling all who have it that estrogen is NO NO. I noticed a decrease in my attacks since that time, although not an absence....Eleanor Re: Relief / Jumping the gun > Sharon,I was the person who went off the pill and had stopped hiving.
