It wouldn't surprise me that allergy stuff could be related to the

thyroid stuff. The only reason I began to suspect thyroid problems for

myself was 18-months ago when I was having hives (for months) and a

newly graduated allergist said that autoimmune diseases like hashimotos

and others can cause hives the same as any other allergic reaction. If

you think about it, your body with hashimotos is having an inner

allergic reaction. So, why couldn't it also cause all those other

problems you were having? When I took Benadryl allergy med 3x per day,

it solved those problems for me. This isn't a complete answer to your

questions, but I think you're on the right track. Now if only the

dratted young allergist had run a full panel of tests and stuck with me,

I might not still be fighting for diagnosis and salvation ... but I

digress. I'm happy you're making progress :) Yay!

Link to more info on hives and autoimmune from Shomon's site:

http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/hives.htm

This quote at the end sounds like me:

" According to the researchers, thyroid autoimmunity and hypothyroidism

may appear several years after onset of the hives. "

I know you don't have hives, , but I'm lumping your allergic

situation together with hives - they seem related in my mind.

the only time i get anything close to hives is when my face gets red and splotchy... and sometimes my neck will to. it's not hives per se, but i notice that it happens when i get embarassed or at my docs office lol. so i think it might just be the situation. i do notice however that my face isn't as red due to allergies. this was becoming a big problem with trying to find good make up to wear lol.

I find this interesting as it was my allergist who discovered my

goiter. I was in for allergy testing as my allergies have gotten a lot

worse..in fact I tested positive for every single allergy test the doc

did and he blames it on my thyroid , would not give me the results and

will not do any more testing for allergies until my thyroid is

straightened out..says it is a waste of time as the tests are going to

be skewed.

When I do have an allergic reaction I find my neck does hurt fo rthe

next few days, but then so does my ribs..

the sensitive skin is definitely allergy related, specifically chemically sensitive...
