This will be a serious error to sign on to statins as a primary

prevention for AF . Here is a sample of some statin concerns from

The Mayo Clinic ;

http://www.mayoclinic.com/invoke.cfm?id=AN00587

I say this because the benefits of statins can be obtained by a

significant change in diet and lifestyle for most people .Certainly

the young (less than 55) with early events of AF, should consider the

possibility of reversing AF by conservative means. Of course we all

would like a pill to solve our problem but Statins are not it .It is

possible that the mass of people with a few episodes are not re-

triggering for any number of reasons. Many go for years in the early

stages before it brecomes persistent.

How would we know if the statin is the main reason ?

Lets give it some credit; it may reduce the inflamatory features of

saturated fats. This is after all its sole claim to fame. The full

risks are yet to be discovered .

I do believe there are people who may require this treatment but I am

reasonabbly sure the drug compaies would be diappointed in the

numbers of sales.

Regards NSR (19 months -previously 9 months persistent AF),

whole foods lifestyle,managing triggers.
