It's the sugar going thru your pouch that would make you " dump " , as far as heart

palpitations, etc. The " crisis " occurs when the sugar hits the new intestinal

connection. So, veins don't count.

Why wear a medic alert? Well for me, I don't want to be hurt at the scene of an

accident, but the last thing I want is to end up in surgery for an accident and

have some bozo put m e all back together again! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Hi again group,

I was wondering about something. I've been reading everyone's posts about

certain medication they are on for fibro...I'm assuming fibromyalgia

(spelling), and for other illnesses. Did you all have these illnesses before

surgery or after surgery?

Also, if our bodies can't handle sugar after surgery, and if I happened to

be taken to the hospital by ambulance or something, and if they gave me IV

fluids, which have sugar in them I believe, what would happen? I mean does

anyone wear an ID alert bracelet to alert medical personnel of your surgery? And

other than to alert them of a possible sugar intolerance, why does one wear

them? And does anyone need to wear one? Thanks again.

I think hospitals use and IV Saline solution. But I wouldn't worry,

because if they were using sugar in an IV solution, it would affect us

the same way as it would anyone else - the problems we have with sugar

are at the digestion phase in the stomach.
