Unfortunately, I feel that even if they had warning signals technology, in the Indian ocean,many of the islands and other low lying areas there wouldn't have been enough time for all to escape. I did not ask my question to offend anyone, and yes I do know that this is a post-op group. As far as some pre-op guy doling out advice on the mgb, I can't help you there. I have no idea who this person is, and would like not to be ridiculed for what this person is doing. However, I certainly do not want a pre-op answering my question that only a post-op could answer. I am not here to give anyone advice, however, it would be nice to meet a kind person enough to answer my simple question. And no, I don't think I want to stay a member of a group that has sarcastic, short-sided unkind people on it. I'd rather be a part of a kind supporting group no matter who or what you are or where you are in your journey. Thanks, but no thanks. I mean this decision is the most important decision that one can ever make in their life time. I mean its a good kind of nervous, but still. It's like being cautiously optimistic, excited kind of nervous looking forward to the future and fearing it all at the same time. When I first started my paperwork, I was invited to join the Post-Op group but I found that they do not want to deal with me. I guess they forgot what it was like before they had there surgery. We should not be invited to join the Post-Op if this group doesn't want to deal with our questions. I hope that CLOS will get a small group of Post-Op patients that would be friendly and willing to answer questions for the Pre-Op patients. I had my surgery in Houston on July 12, 2005 by Dr. P and doing " OK " still have a few problems but they are minor. I've lost 30 lbs so far. If you have any question feel free to e-mail me directly. Any time you are put to sleep, there's that sense of gloom and doom that can take over. The way I calmed myself or reassured myself was the number of the surgeries that have been done successfully through Dr. Rutledges organization. and it was also a comfort to me that the average time someone was under anesthesia was very short on the average. Educate yourself completely. Read the whole manual. Talk to other pre ops and also stick with the post op board and ask questions as well. You had some unfortunate responses that might have seemed offensive to you, but they weren't intended that way. Or even if they were intended that way, know that the majority of us aren't that way. I'll be glad to answer your questions any time and hope that you will feel encouraged to know that there are times we have more time to respond to questions than others. (fears, cost, drs, ins., pain, eating afterward, etc etc) but not here--- because it is the POST op group (that is why it was formed.) Silly " us " so sorry you are offended, but to be honest, i am offended by the MGB groups these days, too. so i am bowing out. stay. ask away. do as you please---- i wont say one freakin word. I am a real monster--That is why, in the last 5 years, I have poured out my heart and soul, spent countless$$ devoted endless hours, written no less than 200 contact letters, and attended seminars, divulged the MOST personal info imaginable, traveled thousands of miles... met people off interstate exits for face to face talks, and listened to 25+ hour long phone calls. yes - a real snake, thats me. Actually i just wanted you to go to the group that held the most answers for YOU. all the " were you scared " questions will be enthusiasticlly received there because that is what people go there to answer! but hey... whats it to me.... nothing anymore. you want to be all aggrivated over it... oh well I will respond to other people on occasion, but if the pre ops will be here from now on why have 2 groups? forget it i will do like i am doing on the other group read once in a while and answer here and there. i have had a bad BAD several weeks and I am tired, hurt, upset, and nearly inconsolable these days. personal feelings have no place here --- at least not mine these days. so i wont go into it, just know that i ADORE most of the people on here. I usually just read the post op and hardly every post. Everyone has been so helpful at CLOS and I know that a lot of the staff has had the MGB but sometime it nice to go to an independent source for info. I don't think anyone meant to step on anyone toes. I'm 6 week out and still having a few problems. I very tired all the time and food makes me nausea. I am finding it hard to drink because I'm so nausea. I haven't lost any weight by my scale in 2 weeks. So I do worry some. I think that has to do with the fact that I'm not drinking enough. I hope I get past this pretty soon. I hate feeling so drained all the time. When I was a pre- op, I understood completely why there would be a post-op board and was eager to join. But I got all the advice I wanted (and some I didn't) from the pre-op board where there are many, many wonderful post-ops who read and post regularly. I'm sorry feelings are hurt by being told " this isn't your group yet " but I just don't want to read about pre-op issues here.
