Guest guest
Hi Aussie, Ok, then I should tell my endo... It’s been doing that ever since I remember so I always just avoided that postural position... I have had a few sonograms and and uptake scan but it’s been a year and when she felt it with her hand she had said it seemed smaller.... But it’s best to call and make the appt for the sono... You think? Thanks, Sue -Hi Sue, The yoga position you describe has a Medical name for testing for Goitre that presses windpipe. My Dr made me do it last week to see if my Goitre had become bigger. I suggest you need to go back to your Endo with this symptom and get a Scan. With me - my face didn't turn blue, I didn't cough, and Dr said my windpipe must be fine and my feeling of Goitre 'tightness' must be from Reflux. I am still not sure re that - so am chasing another Dr. But your symptoms sound classic book for what my Dr was trying to prove. Guest guest
Hi Aussie Jane LOL! Ok, I was just reading and trying to figure out Who Tina was ! LOL... So you would get it checked out huh? Boy so many appointments going on and I just saw her last Friday, but hadn’t done Yoga since then – kinda traded in my yoga mat for weights lately To try and tone and lose weight... Darn it all...i will call Monday and see if She will get me a lab referral for a sono.... Thanks, Sue Hi Tina, I would get it checked. Better safe than sorry. I can't recall the name of the test but its exactly as you descibe as appears to be a Drs dx of growing size in a Goitre. Your Endo needs to be made aware. I did it again - and my Goitre has been aching ever since ! Aussie Jane -- In The_Thyroid_Support_Group , jytdtp wrote: > > Hi Aussie, > > Ok, then I should tell my endo... Guest guest
Reflux is an upsurge of stomach contents... is that the pain that you are feeling?? Are you tasting your last meal during these pain episodes?? Goofy doc..... Granted, I have a goofy body... but for all the years that I dealt with funky stomach and upchucking in my sleep, GERD, reflux, bleeding ulcer... It was never triggered or aggravated by touching the ceiling or reaching up or stretching.... Guest guest
yup... those are all me. lol. a. Re: Re: question for anyone about weird feeling in neck... Ok, I did some refreshing of my memory on goiters and found this. I bolded the ones I have symptoms for.I guess because I so seldom do that one pose out of memory of it bugging me, I had stopped it. And when I tried it again this week, I remembered how muchIt really does bother me and cursed myself for not remembering to tell my endoWhen I was in there with her.In any case, she’s VERY available, has a great front office and nursing staffAnd I will let them know on Monday...Thanks guys...SueWhat are the Symptoms of a Goiter? Some goiters can be tender to the touch. An enlarged thyroid can also press on your windpipe or your esophagus, which may make you cough, have a hoarse voice, feel shortness of breath, feel like you don't want to wear turtlenecks or neckties, feel fullness in your neck, experience choking or shortness of breath at night, or feel like food is getting stuck in your throat. Causes of GoiterIn areas outside the U.S., particularly parts of Asia and Africa, iodine deficiency is a key cause of goiter. But in the U.S. and many other industrialized nations, the use of iodized salt and processed foods has eliminated that problem for all but about 10-20% of the population. In the U.S., goiter is more commonly caused by autoimmune thyroid problems that cause an inflammatory reaction in the thyroid. Doctors will typically treat a smaller goiter with thyroid hormone replacement drugs. This can slow down or stop the growth of the goiter, but doesn't typically shrink the goiter. If the goiter continues to grow while on thyroid hormone, or symptoms continue, or the goiter is cosmetically unsightly, most doctors will recommend surgery. If the goiter contains any suspicious nodules, that may also be reason for surgery.
