Guest guest
Wow Niki that is ver interesting I have never heard of anyone born with out a thyroid either, I was born with mine in the wrong place mine is behind my sternum and close to my heart . and they only found that cause I had a stroke and they were checking my heart and my chest xray looked funny to them and so they did an MRI and found outt it was not a tumor on my heart as they suspect it it was my thryoid. Wow I don't know what to tell you either this is rare I think. Tina Teague wrote: Niki I don't know what to tell you love... I definitely know since you do not have a thyroid gland that your body is very defficient with the t4 only as armour has all the hormones. Have your adrenal glands ever been tested? They can cause people to be manic and have mood swings. That is worth looking into... your adrenal glands and thyroid gland help to regulate each other... so there's no wonder why you're so off kilter. For starters you're deficient in everything. You need something with more than just t4 in it. I recommend taking a natural adrenal gland supplement (made from adrenal glands) and armour or some other 'whole' supplement. I was a vegetarian for about 8 years or so and I'm allergic to pigs but armour is the one thing I will not skimp on. It saved my life. Also, have allergy tests done as allergies can cause reactions that will make your body mimic symptoms of depression, manic, bipolar, add, etc. I'm willing to bet once you get a balanced thyroid 'diet' and adrenals working together you will do well. good luck, Anybody out> there without a thyroid?> > > I was just curious if there was anyone out there> besides me who was born without a > thyroid...but it wasn't discovered until a lot> later? > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Niki Let me ask again, how much are you on for thyroid? Remember, your whole gland is missing, so you would need full replacement of all that a normal gland can make. It's not like the " shared " thing of supplementing (except with Hashi's people like me). Too many endos and other doctors just don't understand that when AlL the gland is missing, then ALL needs to be replaced. Think about and supposing this: If your gland hasn't been there, then could there be a problem with the transmission of ALL electrical-chemical messengers, like all the way from the adrenals to the hypothalamus to the pituitary and so-on? If they are only going by TSH, then they are REALLY playing a dangerous game with your particular health, since there isn't even a part of a thyroid to pick up the pace inbetween. No wonder you're manic! Thyroid is very highly involved with the brain chemistry and all those electrical transmissions all feed off of each other. You need to be with a doctor who understands ALL phases of hormonal activity and isn't a $ynthroid worshipper. Our healthy thyroid glands normally put out a LOT of T4 with a tiny amt of T3. Of course, all of it turns into T3, then T3, then T1, but IF, during that time up to 18 months, your body cells got sick and became thyroid hormone receptor sick, then it could be that your body cells aren't accepting very much of the hormone into the cells and are turning it away. Have you ever had a Reverse T3 test done? This certainly doesn't paint the whole picture, but it gives a clue to that, though we can't tell HOW nonreceptive those cells are. You need much more than just the routine thyroid testing, IMO. Have you ever seen a pituitary specialist? Have you had antibodies testing? Forgive me if you've already said, but there are soooo many of us, lol. P.S. I had a period of " mania " or " hypomania " back during the time I was hyperthyroid, but remember, the Hashi's antibodies do some very peculiar things. I have saved one article on the psychological aspects of Hashi's, and it gives at least 4 proven case histories of our craziness during the worst times of it all. I'm going looking for that now. Guest guest
Well I'm in Australia, the thyroxine capital of the world, so she's on thyroxine has been from the start. She is in her mid 20's now, had a baby when she was around 18, needed blood transfusions when she gave birth. I've sorta lost contact with them now, but from what I remember she seemed to do OK............................... maybe things are different now...........Meleese xx Re: Anybody out there without a thyroid? What did they do for treatment with her? Did you ever hear more? This REALLY has me curious... Guest guest
Well, it would be very doubtfull that you would have those antibodies because you've never had a thyroid in there for them to build up to and hassle. Yet I wonder if it's really only the gland itself that they go after. Taking an antibody test to find out would be one way to know if they do. According to all the literature, it's very unlikely, but there are all other kinds of antibodies in existence. Seems to be an " open " signal to your brain with the T3, but I don't know.
