Hey , I just wanted to let you know I don't have MD I had my EMG on Friday and I was told it was a normal read, and so they have ruled it out.I was just reading this post and saw you were on one of my many drugs I take every morning I take 3 effexor XR it totals 225 MG a day I have been known to just sit and stare into space at times.Plus I take seroquel which makes it really hard to focus and concentrate it makes me just want to sleep. and that is 50 MGs a day. But yes you are right they do make you spacing but I have been on them for almost 3 years now and I am getting use to feeling like I am in outer space here but not here kinda thing. Tina Teague wrote: Adrenal problems are still new to me as far as what to say about them... I'm really good at breaking down allergies and reactions but

not so good with the other medical things. That must have been screwy. I remember my doc putting me on effexor for about a week... man that was weird... it was like going through the looking glass and listening to dark side of the moon at the same time... I just stood in the shower watching the individual droplets fall... then later that day I went to a local celtic festival where we had people who were dancing on top of large balls and juggling flaming batons... looked cool if you were just there.... but it looked really cool if you were high like me. Of course at the time, I became really proactive in my thought processes about medical marijuana because it was like... if this is the only thing that keeps me from being in pain.. sure I'll get high on prescribed effexor all the time lol. But then my moods tanked and I became really depressed and violent... damn doctors lol. At least he knows now to NEVER put me on anything again. But man was it

funny finding that out. You will feel tired after having so much stress on your adrenal glands... it basically forced them to give it all they had. You will probably need a few weeks to get back to normal... make sure you take bcomplex supplements as they help aide the adrenal glands and you may want to take a wee bit of adrenal supplement to help. Don't take the as seen on tv stuff... make sure you take the natural dessicated stuff. I'm still looking for it myself... I think Topper takes it but I can't remember what it is. Good luck, Adrenal test today Hi all. Was at the docs for 4 hrs. They took an initial blood sample, then gave me Klonopin, and every 20 minutes took another blood sample, up to 4 total. My blood

pressure dropped to 80/60. Started at 120/76. It has something to do about my epinephrines - to make sure they aren't elevated due to stress. That will tell doc if the growth on my adrenal is interfering with the juice the adrenal is putting out. Topper, , , - know anything about Klonopin or this test, in more detail than I wrote here ? That Klonopin was a trip, man, head a bit detached from body, vibrating room, so sleepy, confusion. Breathing slowed down. They let me go when my blood pressure started coming up. Hubby was driving me home, on a road we use a lot and I asked "how did we get here?" Woah ! Came home, slept 6 hrs. It's been a tough 6 months with lots of waiting, with my thyroid stuff, and it ain't over till we find out what's going to happen with my adrenal growth. It's hard. jane u.s.

Hopefully, you will find that as your thyroid levels level you don't need them as much. Congrats on not having MD. I haven't been tested yet, I'm thinking about it though. Did you have a muscle biopsy or blood test? I'm new to the whole md thing... the geneticist I was talking to about it never got back to me.

This is really interesting... the EMG test that you had done also can tell you if you have Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis . A link is about it here: http://www.lifespan.org/ADAM/English/HIE/000319trt.htm

this is what it says....

Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis

Alternative Names Periodic paralysis - thyrotoxic Treatment

The best treatment is rapid reduction in thyroid hormone levels. Potassium should also be given during the attack. It is preferred that potassium be given by mouth, but if weakness is severe, intravenous potassium may be necessary. (Note: intravenous potassium should be given only if kidney function is adequate and if the person is monitored in the hospital.)Weakness that involves the muscles used for breathing or swallowing is an emergency and patients must be taken to a hospital. Dangerous heart arrhythmias may also occur during attacks.A diet that is low in carbohydrates and salt may be recommended to prevent attacks. In addition, medications called beta-blockers may reduce the number and severity of attacks while hyperthyroidism is brought under control.

Acetazolamide, a medication that is effective in attack prevention with familial periodic paralysis, is usually not effective with thyrotoxic periodic paralysis.

Outlook (Prognosis)

Chronic attacks will eventually result in progressive muscle weakness that is present even between attacks. Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis responds well to treatment. Treatment of hyperthyroidism will prevent attacks and may even reverse progressive muscle weakness.

Possible Complications

heart arrhythmias during attacks difficulty breathing, speaking, or swallowing during attacks (rare) progressive muscle weakness

When to Contact a Medical Professional

Go to the emergency room or call the local emergency number (such as 911) if intermittent muscle weakness occurs, particularly if there is a family history of periodic paralysis or thyroid disorders.

Fainting and difficulty breathing, speaking, or swallowing are among the emergency symptoms.

Acetazolamide, a medication that is effective in attack prevention with familial periodic paralysis, is usually not effective with thyrotoxic periodic paralysis. Outlook (Prognosis) Chronic attacks will eventually result in progressive muscle weakness that is present even between attacks. Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis responds well to treatment. Treatment of hyperthyroidism will prevent attacks and may even reverse progressive muscle weakness. Possible Complications heart arrhythmias during attacks difficulty breathing, speaking, or swallowing during attacks (rare) progressive muscle weakness When to Contact a Medical Professional Go

to the emergency room or call the local emergency number (such as 911) if intermittent muscle weakness occurs, particularly if there is a family history of periodic paralysis or thyroid disorders. Fainting and difficulty breathing, speaking, or swallowing are among the emergency symptoms. Thyroid gland Review Date: 4/19/2004Reviewed By: J. Adrenal test today Hi all. Was at the docs for 4 hrs. They took an initial blood sample, then gave me Klonopin, and every 20 minutes took another blood sample, up to 4

total. My blood pressure dropped to 80/60. It's hard. jane

, It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be , they put electrodes on your skin first then they shoot a bit of electric thru your muscles that don't hurt but , then when they are done with that part of the test they keep the electrodes on you but then they have this big needle that goes just under yourskin and they listen to your muslce reaction to things. Even that wasn't to bad untill he put it into the fatty part of the hand right under your thumb oh whoa that hurt. Thank you I was so happy when he said it was a normal read and I did not have MD. Also I am not on any medication for my thyroid yet they are saying my TSH is not low enough to start anything. This is why I am trying to get a refferal to the Endocrinolgist at the Hershey med center cause they are on shoman list. I've never heard of Klonopin myself... I'm assuming it's something to 'simulate' stress and see how the adrenals react? That had to be rough if it affected you like that... I'm glad that your hubby was there to keep an eye on you and get you home safely.

How long before they evaluate the results and give you any more info?

Interesting... now I understand why I couldn't lift anymore when I was in storm... I felt too weak... I'd always thought it was from being tired and going so many weeks without sleep....

How come docs don't know this stuff????

This is really interesting... the EMG test that you had done also can tell you if you have Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis . A link is about it here: http://www.lifespan.org/ADAM/English/HIE/000319trt.htm

this is what it says....

Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis

Alternative Names Periodic paralysis - thyrotoxic Treatment

The best treatment is rapid reduction in thyroid hormone levels. Potassium should also be given during the attack. It is preferred that potassium be given by mouth, but if weakness is severe, intravenous potassium may be necessary. (Note: intravenous potassium should be given only if kidney function is adequate and if the person is monitored in the hospital.)< snip >

Thanks for the info Tina. There is a book you should read called Relief from IBS by Elaine Fantle Shimberg. It will help the heartburn and indigestion. That is a lot to go through I tell you and I'm glad you've came out swinging!

I wouldn't give hope up about being fixed... *looks around* I hear it can happen... I'm still waiting on getting completely fixed but I'm excited at the prospects I think lol.

Thank you for sharing your story with me. I really appreciate it. Are you on thyroid meds now? Do you self treat? I can't remember with everyone posting lol.

Thanks for writing me and telling me all of these interesting things. When I have more time I'll write back. If you want you can also talk to me on yahoo as misswindjammer. Have a great day!
