Guest guest
Hi All, I just want to second this post (my son likes the Fridge Phonics too) and to let you know that the Leap Frog Letter Factory DVD is great too. My son is 31 months old, with apraxia and after watching the movie (together) a couple of times he learned most (almost all) the alphabet AND the sounds. He even points letters out while we're driving around, etc. Its definitely worth a try at only $9.99 at Target. Cristina Mommy to Vince (31months - apraxia, possible pdd), Nicky (12 months - right on target so far but watching closely!) and a baby due in May. allison <mtnrainbeaux@...> wrote: Hi everyone, I'm normally a lurker here but found something I thought was good enough to share with all of you. For Christmas we gave our 3 year old son, , a LeapFrog " Fridge Phonics " set. This toy has turned out to be fabulous! It is a magnetic set of letters for the fridge, but they fit into a little battery operated base and when pushes the letter the base responds with (an example) " D says duh, D says duh, every letter make a sound, D says duh " . We've turned this into a game (as I had hoped to) where says the sound before he changes the letter. He is loving it and he is attempting new sounds that have frustrated him before. I think it's a very good tool. As an aside, his letter recognition has exploded, though admittedly I think this may have more to do with his general readniness for the concept more than the toy. I bought it for $13 at Target on sale, but the regular price was only $15. allison
Guest guest
HI, WE GOT FRIDGE PHONICS FOR MY LITTLE GUY FOR CHRISTMAS TOO. HE HAS A HARD TIME WITH ARTICULATION, SO I THOUGHT HAVING HIM TRY OUT THE SOUNDS WOULD BE GOOD. BUT... FOR ALL OF YOU WITH OLDER KIDS (WHO HAVE SPEECH PROBLEMS OR NOT) I JUST FIGURED THIS OUT. MAYBE SOME OF YOU HAVE FIGURED IT OUT ALREADY AND I'M A LITTLE SLOW. BUT I TURNED ON THE CLOSED CAPTION TITLES ON MY TV TO HELP MY 5 YEAR OLD WITH READING SKILLS. HE ALSO HAS SPEECH PROBLEMS BUT IS A VERY VISUAL LEARNER. HE IS DOING GREAT WITH IT. JUST THOUGHT I'D SHARE. THANKS LORI
