Guest guest
I really have to jump in here because I want to be careful of people stereotyping CFers because that's what lead to Santosh's late diagnosis (9 months). Doctors didn't believe that a half Indian child could have CF so they ruled it out before they even sweat tested. My husband is Indian, born in Madras India, and I am of French origin (I have brown hair and brown eyes.) Santosh has brown hair, brown eyes, and is not what you would consider fair. He is doubleDF508. I know it was just a discussion and no one meant any harm (none taken) but I just had to remind the list that CFers come in all colors. Krishnan mom to Santosh, 4 in August wcf and Leela, 2 in August wocf Re: reintroduce myself and Origin of CF Hi Janice, that's a good idea to do. With all those newbies and the flurry of mails it is hard to keep up with the who's who. That's why I recommend more extended signatures, where you can tell in short who you and your family are. Deb, Fiona is blonde and blue eyed too. The scandinavian origin of CF refers to the most common mutation dF508. There are other mutations originating from other places in the world, for instance the N1303K is the mediterrenean mutation. So sometimes you can tell from the CF- mutation, where your pre-ancestors have come from. Dr. Tuemmler, one of the most famous german CF researchers has done a lot of work about CF mutations and their migration all over the world. Guest guest
And as and have correctly pointed out we are talking about mutations here, that are ten-thousands of years old. Much could have (and has)happened in the meantime, so like almost everything with CF, there are no " rules " , just statistics with many exceptions.
