Guest guest
Wondering if anybody has experience w/ their younger children, Callie is 3.5 yrs, flat out refusing to cooperate w/ a slp. Callie works w/ 2 slp's & most of the time she welcomes them with open arms & enjoys her therapy sessions. Every once in a while, usually when she is either coming down with something and/or very tired, she is a bit uncooperative during therapy, not often. Lately, she is turning off & on to one in particular. This morning she turned her head away from her, crawled under the table, told her she was rute ( othewise known as rude ) etc... bottom line, the slp left after 15 - 20 minutes. This happened last week too. I'm wondering if this is " normal " behavior, after all, she is only 3. The therapist said Callie is the only child she works with that acts like that In trying to look at the whole picture, I can tell you that Callie is smart & strong willed. As she becomes more verbal, her strong personality is really showing through, but on the flip side, as strong willed as she is, is also as sweet as she is. Her teachers at school have never once commented on her being uncooperative, quite the opposite in fact. If this is common & a stage, okay, but if not, i don't want to have Callie feel negative about speech, she will be needing it for years to come. Any insight / personal experiences would be so appreciated. Thanks ps - Jill, I'm so glad your trip to New York & appt. w/ Dr. Agin went well. Hopefully you weren't here when we were having 90 + temps, in the city it's unbearable when it's that hot.
