Guest guest
HI and thanks for sending that. I do want folks to know, though, that the Armour conversion chart is not high enough. You will end up needing a lot more. Guest guest
These converion charts are just to get you started and done mainly in the hope of preventing people from getting too much T3 too quickly and having problems that might send you to the hospital with an adrenal crisis. So, they are modest. Today, thyroid doses are far too low for the majority of people. Thyroid doses have dropped to 1/3 of what they were for 83 years prior to heavy reliance on the TSH test. So, most people will need higher doses of Armour than their Synthroid if they want to get their health back. But, you can't do it all at once and have to start somewhere. people who have been on Synthroid a long time and at such low doses as to have caused their adrenals to become very weak will need to be careful switching to Armour with it's 24% T3. So, you should start out low and carful and then slowly work up untill you are well. Tish

Guest guest
Oh geez...this just gets more complicated as I keep reading here. I'm already in overwhelm. All I need is to go one step at a time here & I'm not sure I even know what the next step is since I've seen my new doctor & gotten new blood tests that all say " normal " including thyroid. So obviously she's not going to want me to stop taking Synthroid if she thinks it's making me " normal " . All she's prescribed otherwise is Motrin which I haven't gotten at the drug store yet. And told me to start walking 5-10 minutes a day. She advised counseling for me too for the depression which I can't afford. So that's out. Then she wants me come back next week so she can get me onto an anti-depressant. So more drugs (Motrin/anti-inflammatory & an anti-depressant), walking & counseling are her remedies for all my problems as it now stands with her. Like all my aches & pains & depression & chronic fatigue are all in my head & I'm lazy or something. I still don't know what to tell her next because I'm so in overwhelm with all this informatiion I keep reading here every day that I don't even know if she will help me with. Now my car's completely died as of today when I had to have it towed home & it's unfixable & will have be trashed, or given to a chairty I'm sure. So now I have no way to even get the new prescriptions or get back to see her next week, even if she could help me. Let alone try to find another doctor a further drive away from here. Guest guest
counseling for me too for the depression which I can't afford. ____________________ Depression is a symptom of low thyroid. When thyroid levels are too low, the brain does not get sufficient oxygen and energy and the person becomes depressed. Synthroid itself interferes with energy production in the brain. Please forget about this doctor and find a good one. It will save you so much money and suffering in the end. Go to http://www.thyroid.about.com and look at their top doc list. Or go to the wilson's thyroid site and find one of the ones that is on their list http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com/ Or go to the Armour site and check their list http://www.armourthyroid.com/ Cross reference them between sites if you can to narrow it down to a good open minded doctor. Usually, the Synthroid Nazi's like you seem to have will not change no matter what you sey or bring to them. Tish

Guest guest
Thanx for the links, Tish. I've already done search for good thyroid drs. There's none at all in my area. I have to drive far afield to get to one. So hope there's one available that's not too far a drive. Otherwise I'm out of luck. Guest guest
> > > counseling for me too for the depression which I can't > afford. if the depression is caused by physiological stressors, then treating your thyroid and feeling better physically will be the most sensible and economic way to treat the depression. therapy is expensive and takes a long time. it's indeed incredibly powerful and useful and i think it can only help. however, i also think that a great way to lift depression is experience a new lease on life which you will when you recover. best, baron
Guest guest
I agree. Any " life " at all would be good at this point in my " existence " . Thanx for the insights. Guest guest
My son will come here this Friday to tow my car back to his shop 3 hours drive south of here. He'll work on it there. If fixable, he'll drive it back here with his wife who'll drive his truck here to drive him back home. If not fixable, he'll buy another car for me which I have no way to pay him back for. I won't know either way for about a month or so. So nothing about my health care is going anyplace for about that long at least.
