Guest guest
Was going to ask this on the bfc trainees list, but in light of the recent debate I'll ask here instead... I have been led to believe that MMR is recomended at 13 months as at this time maternal antibodies no longer circulate in the baby if the baby is still breast fed. Is this the case? It just sounds a bit odd to me in that: a) if this is the basis for the timing it doesn't tie in with the national breastfeeding rates - the majority of mothers do not feed until 13 months, and: what happens to maternal antibodies after 13 months? FWIW had his MMR at 2yrs 9mths - after much debate, discussion, research and argument just prior to starting nursery and at an age where if heaven forbid anything went wrong no one could claim that 'autism/Crohn's disease often develops at 13 about months'. Kitty, who is still breast fed, will probably have her MMR at about the same time. -- See pictures of us all at: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=848605 Password: Wisley
