I've had 2 MRIs of my head with no problems. I don't think an MRI

will affect your thyroid.

Note - sometimes they will inject a dye into your veins. Again I had

no problem with that.

if you have an iodine sensitivity you might want to say so at the lab

because if he's ordered for you to take an mri with contrast, they'll

basically inject you with iodine before they do the scan.

but no, the scan itself has no adverse effects. i believe he's

possibly checking you for a pituitary growth, which can cause pressure

on the optic nerves, and result in thyroid and other conditions,

headaches and exhaustion being one of them.

good luck, and don't be scared. remember to ask for the

headphones--they hardly work when the scan begins but at least they

shield your ears from the noise. :)

a brain MRI is different, but I just had a contrast MRI of my shoulder. They

inject a solution in to see better. I just asked for the non iodine one. Ask

your DR if contrast is used ans then do the same as I did if it is

Well I went to medical eye doc. He dilated my eyes and said that

there is a minute amount of swelling by my optic nerve. Wants me to

go for MRI of brain, considering that I have been having migraines,

light sensitivity, etc.

Do you think that an MRI can further damage thyroid? I am a little

scared, but at the same time I need to find out why I am having

headaches so often. (Headaches where I have to rest since I lose my

vision and feel drained afterwards).

H I,

I hope not! I had to have two done within a couple of weeks because they

woman did the first one wrong.

in Va.

Thanks!
