Guest guest
Wonderful morning! I woke up cranky as all heck and not feeling well. I had a headache, my congestion was a little worse, and I was SO ticked! Roy and I had planned to run around Greenlake twice (5.6 miles). This would be my longest sustained run. (I've run longer, but with at least one stop) and his longest run ever (the most he's done is 3.5 miles). The plan was we'd both run once and he would keep going as far as he could the second time around and I'd keep going. So even though I felt like heck and it was overcast and I was cranky, we went. I still didn't know if I wanted to do it (even though I never DON'T do it, I sometimes think I won't) until I saw other runners. Got on our way, got a stupid rock in my shoe, iPod crashed. It just was NOT my morning! Stopped to get the rock out of my shoe and got going again. In an effort to not think about how awful I felt I just started talking to Roy. Well before I knew it, I was feeling good. The pace was S L O W because he's a slow runner, but that's okay. I'm just coming off the flu so I didn't want to push it anyhow. (Although am I the only run who actually hurts MORE when I run at a slower pace?) Went once around and Roy kept on going! I was feeling great by then. The crankiness was gone, the overcast skies were actually quite nice, I was in a slow groove, but a groove nevertheless. I spent a lot of time running ahead, turning around and joining Roy, running ahead, etc. It was a great part and the very best part is, my non-running husband did the entire thing and felt SO proud of himself when he was done! I'm hoping he'll catch the running bug too! He even agreed to do it again next weekend, and maybe make a weekend habit of running Greenlake and then going out to a nice breakfast or lunch. (Today was SUSHI!!!!!) It was AWESOME! ~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~' Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator www.teechur.com www.msteechur.com -The successful person will do the things that the unsuccessful person will not.
