Guest guest
Bob A, Yes, I have had terrible problems with sorbitol and the other sugar alcohols that are used as sweeteners. The small amount present in the protein bars doesn't seem to bother me, but any sugar-free candys or cookies really do me in. I get diarrhea and bloating and the worst gas I have ever felt in my life. One time, I was so excited to find sugar-free caramel corn because caramel corn has always been a favorite of mine, and it tasted just like the real thing. My excitement was short-lived after I ate a serving of the stuff. Ouch! I have never been so miserable in my life. I didn't notice any bad breath problem along with it, but I was in too much pain to notice much. It is really a shame, because the sugar alcohols seem to be the only sugar substitute that taste and cook just like real sugar. I have been disappointed in Splenda, because to me it has a bad off-flavor and tastes nothing like sugar. So, I continue my search for the perfect sugar substitute. Good luck searching for the source of your breath problem! Lynn

Guest guest
Can someone tell me what MO means?? in Fremont MI re; Why? This thread about " lightweights " needing wls is pretty interesting. One thing I could not believe; I was told that I was a lightweight, and did not need the surgery...ME! When I started on this journey, I weighed 307, and a BMI of 51...that puts me is the SUPER OBESE category; yet how many people told me that I did not need this surgery, because I was small... it cracked me up!!!!! well, I took it as a BIG compliment...after all, when was the last time I was referred to as SMALL? I loved it! Everyone responding to this thread is showing justification for wls...how sad it is that MO individuals have to prove themselves to other MO individuals! Weight is relative....people who make comments about not needing the surgery to other people really don't have any knowledge about what they are saying...they are merely seeing someone and making a judgment by what they see...so what that says to me is that a super obese person who says a " lightweight " shouldn't be having the surgery is actually paying a compliment...and that's the way it should be viewed...we shouldn't have to prove how sick we are or anything else...we know what we are suffering with and we also know that coming to the idea of surgery to improve our health is not easy! I say to everyone who has been told to not have this surgery because they are not " big " enough...just say " HEY, Thanks for the compliment!!!!!! Guest guest
Have you tried SugarLike yet? It's sugar alcohols, yes, but if you don't eat the entire cake, it's fine for everything else.
