" I think we all do, and all need to, take in more than 44/56g protein, but

our protein loading is also contributing to calcium excretion. I just did a

report on this for school---the report was specifically about eliminating

dairy products from your diet---but one of the things I found was that

animal protein specifically leeches calcium. Animal products are very

acidic. The blood stream must balance the acidity by absorbing alkaline

minerals-such as calcium-from the bones. Plant based proteins do not have

this effect. "

Let me get this straight. Take my calcium (citrate) supplements,

preferrably at night. Don't take them with my iron and C, which need to be

done alone. Drink no dark-colored sodas. Don't do dairy. Do protein.

Don't do animal protein. Have I covered all the calcuim bases here?

This is one woman who MUST improve her bone density. My surgeon and my

rheumatologist agree that I MUST take Fosamax. I cringe, but do it. So

far, so good. But my thin bones scare the heck outta me. And I was always

a heavy milk drinker, never a big meat eater, and was always heavy. How did

I get thin bones? Probably from a sedentary lifestyle, enhanced by 6 years

in the wheelchair. Because of the bone fragility, my right knee replacement

was not done the " preferred " way. It was glued into place, instead of

having a peg bored into the bones.

Just being sure I do things as right as we know....

Alice

lost 132 so far

gained a new knee, and more mobility

Do protein.

************* hmm, you could add: don't lose a massive amount of wt OR forfeit

the lower portion of your stomach? But what fun would that be?

And lots of vit D, dry.

I'm also taking Triboron & ipriflavone because the Fasomax is out of the

question for me, and looks like the Miaclcin spray isn't much of a choice for

me, either.

Everything I've read about osteoporosis has mentioned the adverse link

of high animal protein ... the issue of course is that we will

malabsorb some of the protein in regular foods... so our milage will

vary from the normies in the gram counting of protein requirments.

AND don't forget that your magnesium supplement should be

50% or a 2-to-1 ratio of your calcium.
